Under my nose

I have owned these two for quite some time but didn't realize their significance until I was reading the TPS and came across a fact of Parkerism. Their serial numbers are 21 apart. Can anybody spot why?

Transition guns are great.

They are listed in the Parker Found section of the Parker Pages, but the serials are 25977 and 25998.

Was George right? I don't get it.

I think so ,no rib extension
|
Good candidates for Parkers found
|
And they both have lifter style hammers on them.

They are already in Parker's Found but thought sharing pictures and a riddle would be fun. By the way, I found them in my gun safe, latest without and earliest with the rib extension. One came from the William Owens Sr. estate. He was background instrumental in the creation of the Repro's. I have his original galley art for A1s's. I've scanned these and sent them to Geoffrey Gournet. He didn't even remember engraving some of them. The second I found at the Vegas show from a private local collector.

I see you mentioned they are in Parkers Found now.
Good job. That is cool you are able to have them both. |
A 1st and last! I would wager you are the only guy who can make that claim
|
There are 21 serial numbers between them. Maybe somebody out there has a closer number. Also it pays to look at your collection more closely, never know what you will find.

Great guns Michael, when you study these old guns you find things you did not notice before, they look in great condition too! Gary

I've been lucky to come across some great guns and when I see one I should have I just buy it. The longest I've chased a Parker is 2 1/2 years. Grade 3 hammer that hadn't been out of a gun safe in fifty years. Gave fair market value to the gentleman as he didn't know what he had but it took 30 months for him to decide to sell it. Great find though.
He had a well used 12 ga Trojan that I passed on. I should have bought it too as unmolested Trojans are hard to find. He's going to use it for duck hunting. He was going to take the hammer money and bought matching M70 rifles for himself and his two sons. |
