126698 GH 20 gauge target/live bird gun
12 Attachment(s)
My new to me Parker arrived today. It is a 30" 20 gauge straight grip with a checkered butt. Chambers are 2 7/8", DOC 1 1/2", DOH 2 1/4", LOP 14 1/2", chokes 0.018/0.023. It is tight on face and the metal is pretty darn nice. A little screw alignment is needed and possibly re-cut the checkering. This is a cool gun with no safety. Can't wait to shoot it!

Congrats!.....That is a sweet one!!
|
You find some nice ones Brian.
|
I'll be expecting another letter??
|
Yes Chuck looking forward to the letter on this one.
Yes Brian you just have to keep working at it. Most of these guns have not seen the light of day in years, they all need some care and repair, its what I can afford. I would rather buy 6 fixer uppers or light on condition guns than one nice example of an "A"......its way more fun with 6! |
Great find. Those straight grip, long barreled 20's are just so sleek looking.
|
Love those long tang straight grip Parkers!
|
Absolutely gorgeous Brian. Happy New Year my friend.
|
Very, very nice Brian! What a find!
I know the whereabouts of a wonderful straight grip sixteen gauge GHE with 32" Parker Special Steel barrels. I've handled it several times... but it's just not for sale... NUTS! . |
Brian,
When you get your letter could you let us know what reference was use for the checkered butt. I have a 20 gage Damascus gun that was requested as "no butt plate". It would be interesting to know if there were any other terms used for this type of butt treatment. |
Larry, a lot of the guns with the checkered butt are shown in the books as "no butt" or "no butt plate".
. |
Larry,
I can help on another I have, on my 34" DHE 12 gauge letter it says "no butt plate, no safety". I'll report back on this one when I get it. Brian |
As you can see, Brian is a good customer of mine:bowdown:
|
What a gorgeous gun Brian, one to die for. I have 128809 which is a VH 20 with 30" vulcan steel barrels, straight grip and no safety. A real joy to shoot.
The gun letters to W.R. Crosby, ordered by DuBray and at the end of the letter says "compliments of Parker Bros". How cool is that? Can't wait to see your letter. |
Awesome gun. How is it choked?
|
A lot of word of mouth at local gun shows and business cards, a couple of large signs at my table with "Parker's Wanted" on them. For every 20 guns I am offered I find 1 maybe 2 prospects. Most I am offered are VH guns beat to death and early damascus low grade 10 gauge guns rusted beyond repair. One thing is for certain, you have to love the hunt and you have to like people, I am guilty of both. This gun came from a game wardens family in central Canada, supposedly it had been with the family for many decades.
|
Brian, That is one heck of a nice gun, The fun in getting Parkers is in the hunt, don't you agree? Gary

Great Gh 20 enjoy !

Brian, I have a G grade that's almost a twin to yours. Mine has Special Steel barrels and a dog's head butt plate. I love the checkered butt on your gun, I wish mine had it too!
