Your dream gun??

You're looking to acquire your 1st Parker Reproduction . . . what do you desire; maybe you already have a Parker Repro, but need another . . . what's on deck; or perhaps you already have a couple of Repros and desire another . . . what's next on your list; or maybe you have a bunch of Repros, but that ain't enough, as there's one or more out there that has eluded you . . . what Repro is it that would make your collection complete???

What's your dream Parker Reproduction? Please be specific.

Robin Lewis 12-20-2015 09:29 PM

A 28ga Duck Stamp Special. I know they made it in 12ga but I have no idea if they made any in 28ga. But, you did ask for my "dream" Parker Reproduction.

Dean Romig 12-20-2015 09:54 PM

A Repro BHE 28 gauge with two sets of barrels, both 28" - Q1 & Q2 and Mod/Full.
BTFE and Splinter, DT, Straight grip, and killer wood... that should do nicely.

28GA with straight grip, beavertail, double triggers, 28" barrels with Q1 & Q2 chokes and oh my god wood.

Andy Humphriss 12-21-2015 11:54 AM

20 ga/ 16 ga with 28" barrels, 20 ga skeet / ic 16 ga ic/ full straight grip double triggers splinter forearm knock out wood.

Terry Hobson 12-21-2015 03:41 PM

BHE 20 ga DT, SG, Spl forend, 28 inch barrels IC/Mod.

I think I have only seen one BHE as above, don't remember if it had 28" tubes.

Back when they were still shipping guns from their warehouse in Missouri I called to see if they had any BHE 20s with double triggers. They did not have any. This was in Feb of 1990. I did purchase a DHE 20 at the time for $2376 from the Webb City Mo warehouse.

I wish I had gotten on the Repro band wagon early on and seen if I could have had a gun made with custom stock dimensions and open choked 28 tubes. These guns were made when the 26" tubes were more in vogue, also single triggers. I think the double market today would be more for longer tubes, stocks, and double triggers.

I want a 28 gauge, 28", chokes optional, double trigger, straight grip, beavertail, with extra set of .410 barrels, numbered to the 28 gauge gun.

Did they ever even make 28 ga 28" barrels in Q1/Q2?

I already own my dream Repro.: 28 ga., 26"Q1/Q2, beavertail, pistol grip, double triggers and outstanding wood. Actually my wife has appropriated it.

Jeff Kuss 12-21-2015 10:18 PM

I have my dream repro. It's a 28 ga , pistol grip with double triggers and 28" barrels.
I could only improve it if it had a beavertail forend and 30" tubes.

Yes, we know of at least two, we discussed them here:

I am working on making my recently
acquired 28 in 28 gauge barells Q1
and Q2. They were purchased at a bankruptcy auction for 35 dollars, now if I could find a 28 gauge Beavertail to go with
the other 2 sets of 28 gauge barells and the
.410 CSMC barells, I would be set. I found a Beavertail forend and mounted it on the splinter iron, but I need to fill the obvious hole where the forend bolt goes to make it look better

Bill Murphy 12-22-2015 04:11 PM

Forend bolt? Please explain.

Dean Romig 12-22-2015 04:26 PM

The beavertail forend reinforcing rod Bill.

See what I have done is I found a Beavertail
wood for a 28 gauge Repro, then I mounted it on a splinter forend iron for a 28 gauge Parker Repro and it works fine but I have the
hole that needs to be filled with something where the beavertail forend reinforcing rod
would go.

now any suggestions? ?

Thanks in advance

Dean Romig 12-22-2015 04:53 PM

You'll never get it to work well..... send it to me and I'll dispose of it for you.

Bill Murphy 12-22-2015 07:42 PM

I was thinking ".410" which has no reinforcing rod.

Scot Cardillo 12-22-2015 08:40 PM

Pat..the "proper" way to fill in the void of your f/e would be to shape some small pcs of walnut similar in color to your f/e and glue them in with attention to grain flow. Make sure the glued in pcs are "proud"..once glued up & cured..shape the proud areas down to match and add oil..done!

If you don't have the tools to shape etc..head to a cabinet shop who can give you a nice sized bag of sawdust..take the sawdust and mix it into a slurry with glue..lay it in..dry it up..dress it down..and add oil.

First suggestion is the right way to do it but for odd shaped voids that you do not want to machine out for a proper pocket..the sawdust slurry works well.

Of course bedding material would work well too (it's basically epoxy)

Sure beats bondo!!

Pat Dugan 12-22-2015 11:08 PM

super suggestion , whole lot better
than pieces of Scrap ivory that I thought
about about shaping.
John Garvin in Albany is working on a broken
stock now, so he would have some

Thanks again

Pat, Bill Schearz is in your area and he will do it the correct way. Just ask Asa Kelly. Merry Chrisrmas. Jim

Pat Dugan 12-22-2015 11:59 PM

Thanks, I do use Bill Schwartz for a lot of repairs, in fact he fitted the .410 CSMC
barells to the Parker Repro 28 gauge
frame, he is master Craftsman

I've got the makings of Bill's dream gun. 28" 28g, straight grip, splinter, SST, with CSM 28" .410 barrels, an extra vintage 28g forend ejector iron.
