Fall Southern Report???
What news Fellas??
. |
Dean
I think this is the best Fall Southern yet! As expected, Team Parker bested those Smith people by a comfortable 9 targets on the P- S Challenge. The weather is perfect with some clouds coming in today. As usual, our own Dr Truit won a handful of awards and shot the highest qualifying score for the Challenge, 29 of a possible 30 . Dave Fjelline has made a strong comeback also making the Parker team. The two courses, small gage and large gage, were challenging but easily shootable. Today is the Hammer Gun Challenge. main event, Compaq, Black powder events. David |
That's very good news all around - Congratulations to those folks you mention!
I hope somebody does a nice write-up of the entire event with plenty of high resolution pictures so we can feature it in the Spring 2016 Issue of Parker Pages. . |
Great to hear. Glad David is shooting again!

There will be more info and photos once I recover from the ride home and get photos uploaded. Stay tuned.
As David said, it was a great Fall Southern. Great shooting the whole time. Fewer vendors but still good stuff and choice guns. The roster is correct except Buddy Marson was our wild card shooter and not Neill McCinnis. All of the shooters on both teams shot well and a good time was had by all |
One of our members had recently purchased a fantastic , all original, high condition BHE 28 ga with 28" original titanic barrels . He was kind enough to allow me to inspect it. A special gun. Another member allowed me to handle his all original VHE 34" 16 ga. There were several other memorable member guns in attendance and a few for sale on the Parker table . There was also a Repro DHE 28 ga rebarreled to a 34" 410! This is not much of a dealer show but several guns changed hands among members. The attendance was up this year over last, so it keeps growing.

I'd love to see that BHE 28 gauge

The P-S hammer gun challenge was won by L.C Smith, but only by one point.
Dean-probably not as this collector is very private, but maybe for some cookies. It is not me. David |
Wow! I did not even see the guns David speaks about, but did hear about the 34" 410. It just goes to show that, despite a fewer number of dealers, there were plenty of fine guns to be seen. My favorite was an AH at Jerry Smith's table. It was an early one, fishtail toplever and great engraving. I got 152 photos, so I will post as soon as I get them downloaded to Photobucket.

I had a great time ! Weather could not have been better and the course was in perfect conditon. Vendor turn out is not the same as the Spring Southern, I still came home with a new gun.
Its worth the trip to see the Parker Club members in person great bunch of guys. One went out of his way to help with a mechanical issue, not only fixed it showed me how to fix ejector problems so I can do it myself in the future. William |
I was able to get a Hosford Wall Thickness gauge for a great price from Dave Kerr.
|
I thought Jerry might have sold that AH at Rock Mountain - the engraving is spectacular!
David, please let me know where to send the cookies. . |
It was a great shoot. Rick and the staff at Backwoods always does a wonderful job. Lauren (very nice young lady who works up front) is a hard working person who knows how to get the job done.
Dave Leemon set some good targets. The small bore course was set separate from the big bore events. They set up a really cool flurry event (per the Vintager guys) that was awesome. It got some really good attention from those guys and gals on Saturday. (thank you guys for having the idea to do it) Cant wait til next year. Several Parker members shoot very well and brought home some awards: David Dwyer, Brian Brady, Carl Brandt, and Dave Fjelline. Brian won the hammerless main with his 32" GH dam 2, and Dave Fjelline won the hammer main runner up with his 34" D grade. Brian also won the 410 event with his grandfathers original VHE. (he kicked but with that gun. shoot a high score on a tough 410 course). Also Benjamin Hall was our junior shooter and shoot very well in many events. :) |
I had a friend in the shop this AM that was there . I think he said he did well in the 16 and 20 gauge events .

[QUOTE=Mills Morrison;180319]New official thread started:
Really? . |
As a Smith guy the greatest moment for me this weekend was seeing Dave Fjelline on the line for the Challenge. What a great guy who has over come so much, to see him back on top is awesome! And to think how I piss and moan about every little thing. He knows how to over come! And should be an inspiration to us all.
|
I took notice of the 'visual aids' attached to Dave's barrel in one of the pictures Mills posted over on the "Official" thread. I'd like to see better pictures and to know just how he uses it all. He may be a perfect candidate for a sinestral stock.

He tried one ,then designed the offset sights he now uses. He is shooting as well with the loss of his dominate eye as he ever did with both. He is one amazing man and I am privileged to have him as a friend. David |
Well said Mr Britton.
Dave shoot very well this past weekend. He kicked butt in the flurry single man and team event. He did really well in the hammer main. He has come along way and serves to be an inspiration to me every day. |
It's hard to put a good man down, I say a pray for him every night, gary
|
Mills,
I had to get back to Fayetteville for dinner with the wife. Sacrifices we make. Really enjoyed seeing everyone. I shoot my K-80 in skeet just about year round but nothing compares to the joy of shooting a Parker! best to all. Neill McInnis |
No problem Neill. Hope to see you in Sanford this spring

But a K-32, K-80 or Remmie 32 .............................. well lets just say I have a DEEP affection for them as well ! |
But they have no soul.
|
We had a chance to buy a Kreighoff 3 barrel set for around 4 grand. Should have nailed it but we didn't have 4 grand at the time. It was an old set
|
Mills
but it has no soul! David |
True. And another reason we didn't pull the trigger
