EH 10 gauge #3 32"
Well it appears I've bought a Parker EH #3 frame 32" gun !
Funds should be to the seller by wednesday and hopefully the gun will be to me by next monday . This one I am quite sure is not in as nice condition as my EH #2 frame but thats just fine as long as the guns solid . |
Good for you. If it is the one I saw on Gunsinternational (I think) that is a good buy.

Thanks ! I thought so as well provided it is as the guy claims . The hole in the stock bothers me a bit but I think Mr. Patton can straighten that out easily enough . |
I'll be interested to hear what it looks like
I asked him for better pics a month ago and never got them if it is solid - that was a good buy |
You never know what you are going to get on these online gun sites. I have got some real junkers, but also got some real diamonds in the rough.

And I hope this thing is choked tighter then the hinges of H..E..L..L well as long as it's safe for Bismuth that is :rotf: |
The gun serial numbers to 1899 actually and it's in a group of I believe ten EH guns .
|
The supply problems for low pressure non-tox ammo is a real pain for us owners of these old waterfowl guns.
|
yes - he only gave the first three of the serial number- the last two had to be in the 60's

Originally when he listed this gun he told me it was a #2 frame but he also told me he couldn't get the for end off . When I talked to him today he said they had fixed/replaced the spring that caused the problem and yes it was a #3 .

in the book 91110 to 91120 are 12's not 10s except for 91117 - which list as 30 inches, i could not read the serial number in the pics BTW- he emailed me back in August that it was a 3 frame I am not putting it down, I looked at it again last week and almost called- i hope you got a good one- you can tell me "told ya so" :rotf: unless we are talking a different gun- the one I looked at was there first thing this morning but gone after you posted. |
He told me the number I looked in the book and whatever the number was there were several together I think maybe ten of them listed as 10 gauge . I was thinking the number was 91,116 but my memory isn't what it once was !
|
Must have been in the 91,162-91,169 group . Because whatever he told me a couple months ago was correct with the book . Have you seen or heard of many EH guns be it #2 or #3 frame guns that had 28" barrels ?
|
The one I got or am getting has what appears to be a home made sling swivel in the under rib of the barrels and a hole in the stock where "I assume" a swivel stud pulled out . Also said it had a chip missing from the toe . The fellows in Jersey .
|
That's the one

Some not so great pics !
I hope the guy has less then stellar photography ability and the gun looks better in real life LOL's ! http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f3...psedvoqyri.jpg http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f3...pskh1q9qgw.jpg http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f3...pslbtjyfqz.jpg http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f3...psi468esgo.jpg The main two things that bother me on this one ! http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f3...pspbwbcbzt.jpg http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f3...ps4zvzezyh.jpg http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f3...psohnbiomc.jpg http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f3...psjwuie8di.jpg |
thanks- the right side is not too bad- the engraving did not show in the GI posts and it looked like a piece was missing at the stock head on the right side, those were my questions to him, never got an answer
IF the bores are VG as he said - i think you did good- but I think what you see is what you get- still a deal at that price |

I started casing the serial number book a little while ago starting in 1889 looking for 10 gauge guns with 28" or 26" barrels . Before I stopped I found something like 42 of the 28" and 3 of the 26" . I failed to see how many EH guns .
Of the ones I counted I think there was in one place a group of 28" top lever guns something like 10 or 12 in the group . A #2 frame top lever and a 28" EH would be nice to add . To say nothing of a #4 Grade 2 top lever ! |
It appears to have a sling attachment on the barrel. So the hole in the stock may have been for a sling. The little 20 gauge hammer gun I had in Italy 40+ years ago had sling attachments and I loved the configuration.

The barrel swivel stud in the pics doesn't look terribly bad but I betcha the one in the stock was a plain old Uncle Mike's swivel stud . I may get a set of the Jerry Miller two screws swivel stud bases . Then plug the hole and inlet a place for the two screw stud base . Or and highly more likely I'll get Professor Patton to take care of the hole in the buttstock and I'll plug the two holes in the under rib myself . |
Well the seller got my certified funds today along with my UPS insured shipping label . He sent me a message that UPS would have it today . So coming from New Jersey to Virginia I should receive it Friday .
|
By using the UPS tracking number I ascertained that the gun "should be" delivered Friday !
|
The Parker arrived today . And to be honest it exceeded what I was expecting by a good bit !
The bores in this thing are like mirrors , the barrel rang true when I tapped them , all the pertitnent places had matching serial numbers and the gun locks up tight and on face . I think the stock had been refinished or finish added . http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f3...ps2srptfjp.jpg http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f3...psu3jpppu2.jpg http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f3...psofdchyhs.jpg http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f3...psdfvtuqth.jpg http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f3...psgllsj0cd.jpg |
Wow! That is nice.

Good buy Craig
So. Did the serial number end in the 60's |
EH and NH Parkers are great working guns. I know several of us on here who own and shoot them. You see photos of A grades and high condition Parkers in museums. You see photos of EH and NH's in duck boats.

Yes 63 . He had told me the number a few months back and for some reason 91116 kept popping in my head . |

I looked thru the serial number book looking for hammerless 28" 10 gauge guns and found more listed then I expected . Anyway I'll keep eyes open for one of them also hopefully EH grade . While I was looking for the 28" guns I also watched for 26" and 24" . I found very few hammerless 10 gauge in 26" or 24" but there were a few . |
Most of the small action screws are buggered a bit , there's a chip missing from the toe , the home made swivel stud on the barrel and the swivel stud in the butt stock small things that'll get fixed over time !
I wanna try it on the pattern board with #1 Bismuth monday from 40 yards and perhaps with some buckshot handloads on paper . |
Hmmm on my postal scale this thing weighs 8 pounds 12 ounces . I think it's a shade lighter then my #2 frame gun with shorter barrels
|
he said just over 8 1/2 pounds
what is the stamped barrel weight |

Monday morning weather permitting I plan on trying this new to me Parker with handloaded #1 Bismuth on the pattern board . And then try hanloaded 000 , 00 , 0 , 1 and 2 buckshot all buffered but shoot these on paper at 25 yards the Bismuth I'll try at 40 yards .
|
Shot #1 Bismuth loads at 40 yards !
New Remington hulls cut to 2 7/8" , 1 1/4 ounces Bismuth #1 , REM SP-10 wad , 30 grains SR7625 and a CCI209 primer shot at 40 yards ! http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f3...psbecg2go3.jpg http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f3...psmy5nrjdq.jpg |

Guess it will kill a deer. By the way, my #2 frame DH ten has 27" original Damascus barrels. It weighs about 7 1/2 pounds. According to The Parker Story, it's one of three.
