Barrel steel

I'm trying to figure out my DH barrels 62410 .. This
Gun had to of been resorted ! barrels look new and are cut 3 inches, book calls for 30" . Second thing is (titanic steel) or what ever it was on the rib has been smoothed off. Third thing barrels stamped 3.12 for weight but feel like 2.12 . fourth thing barrel lug looks new or redone. And finally chambers are 3" with a beautiful smooth mirror finish .?!.?!

That serial number would indicate Damascus Steel. It is much too early for Titanic Steel.

Unless it was sent back for replacement barrels obviously.

The fact that the barrel steel roll stamp has been obliterated suggests the rib said Damascus Steel.

I agree, the gun sounds like it has been resorted.

I think you should have your gun checked by a competent gunsmith before firing.

After further review and good light: Damascus steel was smoothed off the rib.the bores were honed or back bored, 30 inch barrels cut to 26 and the barrels were blued.
