Nice Shot Shortage

Looks like the Nice Shot shortage has set in for the long term. Has anyone heard if Nice Shot is supposed to come back into stock at any time in the future? If not, has anyone thought about a substitute non-tox shot for our older waterfowl guns?:bigbye:

is not available any place any how a "shortage"

I had the email of the maker in Pa, i'll see if I can find it and send him a note

but- my guess is we won't ever see it again

i have one unopened kilo of nice shot #2s - I'll trade it for a 4 frame DH 10 - but only with 34 inch barrels :rotf: :rotf: :rotf:

That is the impression I get. What is everyone using as a substitute?

I got some 4's Last month . Talked to Dan and he said he hopes to have more coming .

Looks like they have 4's and 7.5's now

Some guys are using ITX and Bismuth also .

Thanks!

I've loaded some Bismuth #1 for geese . I was under the impression this stuff was okay for damascus etc . Provided it's not loaded hot of course .

Bismuth is perfectly fine for older ( non steel rated ) guns , don't think matters how fast you run it , except for recoil . I use it with no problems.

Some bismuth

I heard Kent may be making a 2 1/2" 12 gauge with tungsten matrix. Anyone know about that and if so is it lower pressure?

Mills Morrison 09-04-2015 12:13 PM

That would be good news.

Interesting piece on bismuth from Shooting Sportsman

Well I got an invite for early saturday morning for some goosey birds !

Hopefully I can blood my grandfathers old W&C Scott 10 gauge !

Our early res season is 10 per day no less !

Might have to take a second gun along just in case

CraigThompson 09-05-2015 06:16 PM

Got my first ever Cannanada this morning about 7:45 !

Used my grandfathers old circa 1881 W&C Scott 10 gauge . 1 1/4 ounces of Bismuth #1 in a SP-10 wad pushed with 30 grains of SR7625 in brand new unfired Remington hulls and set off with CCI209's !

Truth be told I should have gotten two when I got this one . But I think I shot right under the second one !

He and I might do it again Monday morning , if so I'll drag out my circa 1889 Parker EH 10 gauge #2 frame 30" barrels

I already have permission for a couple places in the late season . I gotta admit I like the social aspect of goosey hunting over the solitary thing of tree stand deer hunting . And that's probably why I like deer hunting the last week or so with friends in the adjacent county as it's more of a social thing as well !
