My Parker 28

Fred asked about my 28 gauge that I have replaced my Francotte with. Here it is. I have had it out an taken a few quail with it before I the season wrapped up this year. Took it along with a Repo 28 that IMy hunting partner shot that day. My original is Choked Mod and Full with 28" barrels. On a 0 frame. With RST woodcock loads it does the trick. I hope to write a story for the Parker pages about my first hunt with the gun soon.

Very nice Phil. I saw a DHE 410 today and it was the perfect gun except for the price

Russ Jackson 05-30-2015 09:26 PM

Phil ,That's a Beauty !!!!!!!!!!! I had a OO Frame 28 Ga. DHE with 30" Barrels and believe it or not never cared for the long barrels and ended up selling the gun ! If it would just have had 26" Barrels ,I would have never parted with it , I have since picked a nice VH Grade ,not near as nice as the DHE but I shoot her pretty well ! Thanks for posting Pics. always nice to see a beautiful gun !

The engraving is spectacular. Anyone have a guess who might have done it? Looks a step above the normal to me.

Where was I when you sold the 30" 28? OMG

Phillip Carr 05-30-2015 10:07 PM

Russ must agree with you most of my bird guns have 26" barrels. I shoot short barrels very well over the dogs, that said 28" barrels are a nice compermise.
Chris Dawe just finished up a stock for my 32" VH 20, which has not been shot yet. It does look really nice with those long slim barrels. I'm think dove this September may be in trouble.

That's a beautiful gun Phil!

Is it on the 0-frame or the 00-frame?

Extractor or ejector?

greg conomos 05-30-2015 10:16 PM

Occasionally I'll run across someone who will opine that a Repro 28 D Grade is every bit the gun that an original is. It only takes a look or two at this gun to see just why they're wrong.

Phillip Carr 05-30-2015 10:17 PM

It's an extractor gun on an 0 frame. Here is the letter on the gun.

Phil ,I have to agree ,I have a couple of 28" Barreled small bores I really like ,One is a DH Grade 20 with 28" Damascus Barrels also has a set of 28" 16 Ga. Damascus Barrels with it ,the 16 Ga. Barrels ,I added on it is not a Factory two barrel set although I wish it were ,a nice combination and the 28" Barrels never bothered me a bit !

Jeff ,You were here it was just a couple of years ago , I actually sent the gun down to Chuck B. and he advertised and sold it for me ! It was a nice gun , Brad Bachelder refinished it for me ,I just never really took a shine to it ,I Know ,I Know , BUT IT WAS A DHE 28 GAUGE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Phillip Carr 05-31-2015 12:32 AM

Richard, I'm with you on the engraving it does seem to be a bit nicer than the D grades I have typically seen. Hopefully someone will join in with some information.

It looks just right alongside the Mearns!
