Not a 34"
Well I didn't have much luck finding a 34" Parker 12 gauge I could afford . But I did walk into a VH 32" on a #2 frame with a straight grip stock choked full and full . Should be to me some time next week !

That's a solid gun, I shot the DHE version of that for years on ducks.
Now I've got the DHE version with 34 inch barrels on a #3 frame. She's with Brian at the moment, I'm missing my girlfriend badly already. DLH |
I thought this thing would work well for the side by side event at the state trap shoot this year .
Well provided the gun semi fits me  |
I've got a VHE with 32" barrels. I shoot it reasonably well at Sporting Clays, even with it's Full and Fuller than Full chokes. I've found that RST 2 1/2 light loads seem to pattern well. That may help with a starting point for you. If I tell you that I'm contemplating getting the chokes opened up a bit, that will get some forum members crazy. Oops, I think I just did.

My 32" twist F/F+ hammer gun will break clays and kill ducks so far out you need over the horizon radar to track the target....
|
Recently I have been shooting my 30 inch V with full and fuller at clays. I have to shoot it a bit before I get on to it as it has 3" drop. However, once comfortable with it, boy is it fun to watch clays vaporize. It will really reach out and touch 'em - hard. A blast!
|
Gary, I know what you mean about vaporizing targets. I shot clays just Wednesday with the VHE and after a couple of targets, the squad was giving out "Holy C..." and "Goodness" comments.

I have a VHE 30" #1 and a VH 30" #2 and they're both like what you have . I used the VH in the side by side event at the state trap shoot last year . But I'm so used to floating the bird with an O/U or Un Single that I'd shoot right under them if I didn't think about what I was doing . |
Bought a Parker VH 12 gauge on a #2 frame with 32" full and full choked barrels . Gun has an english style straight grip and the wrists been pinned twice . But this thing outta be okay for the side by side event in the VA State Trap shoot this year !
As you can see these are GB pics , hopefully the gun will be in hand next week and I can take pics of my own . http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f3...ps4w7sciwe.jpg http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f3...psrgtio4v4.jpg http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f3...ps8fklj6h0.jpg http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f3...psyxilaw5c.jpg http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f3...psgsvmgg6k.jpg http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f3...psizxdiutl.jpg http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f3...psdg9zmnub.jpg |

People I bought this shotgun from called me today to tell me it was shipped today and they gave me the UPS tracking number , I should have it by 10 AM Friday

Just got the gun and it's actually better then I anticipated . Case colors are still pretty decent on the action . The blueings a bit worn on the barrels but such is life . I've not measured the dimensions on the stock but it "feels" like a more modern gun rather then one made in 1912 . The barrels measure 32" exactly as listed in the book .

The pins in the wrist .
http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f3...psw0cjjtmp.jpg http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f3...psjjrng4rv.jpg They measure 32" exactly ! http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f3...psxfprgrc3.jpg http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f3...psglixef7n.jpg http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f3...pslbr1dy5k.jpg The box on the end is not the best box I've ever seen but it is slightly there and the barrels measure exactly 32" as listed . Also the chokes are full and more . http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f3...psxr8zd9cv.jpg |

http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f3...psqweeaduc.jpg http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f3...ps8wyatr3u.jpg I have a friend who offered to take this off my hands last week if it came in and I didn't like it . Think we'll have to find him one somewhere else ! |
Nice gun. Looks a lot like my 32" VH I bought last fall. Mine was built in 21 and choked F/M. But very similar other then that. My barrels were incorrectly blued(freer gun shop is handling that), and they had blued the top lever( I have since corrected), but I like and and you should enjoy yours. I ended up refinishing the stock myself because it had a lot of oil in the neck, but yours looks good. Like the straight grip, mine was PG.
The pinning looks to be done well. If it ever bothers you I believe Mr. Dudley can make those pin spots go away. But if they don't bother you, I say leave em alone. They are part of the gun's history. |

The drop in the stock is 1 1/2" and 2" . I "think" this gun and I may get along very well . I haven't checked under the trigger guard for the serial number on the wood but I doubt seriousely that the woods been swapped on this gun . Twenty or so years ago I had a VH #1 frame 16 gauge with a straight grip stock , 30" pipes choked F&F . Wish I had it back now it would've made a fair to middlin clays gun as well I think . |
I have shot skeet with mine using RST spreader loads and it has done quite well.
No I don't imagine there is any issue with the pinning, it would be more a cosmetic thing if the look bothered you. |
I checked under the trigger guard and the stock serial numbers to the gun . The LOP on this thing is 14 5/8" I was thinking that was a touch long and maybe was a replacement stock . But after seeing the serial number in the wood I feel better .

My 34'' VHE was made the same year. It has a 15'' LOP.
|
Well I'm kinda sorry to say I just sold this to a friend !
He wants to campaign it at the Southern Side by Side next year and a few other side by side events ! |
