L.C. Smith Display at Southern SXS

Every year, the L.C. Smith folks put up a display of some of their fine guns. The light was not the greatest, but here are some photos.

It was suggested that Parker do a similar display next year and I think we should.

What?.... We didn't have guns on display this year?

Mills Morrison 04-28-2015 06:18 PM

Not an organized display like they did

Steve Huffman 04-28-2015 08:53 PM

Has anyone ever had Rst print up any boxes with the Parker logo I would buy a case or so if it was done . When I say logo I mean like the sticker we get with the membership renewal .

Dean Romig 04-28-2015 09:43 PM

Not that I'm aware of. We applied some PGCA stickers to some boxes of RST ammo we gave as door prizes at the Annual Meeting a couple of years ago but I don't know if anyone had contacted Morris about actually printing up Parker Shotgun boxes.

Did they have any of the 8 gauge Smith's on display the fellow from up this way owns ?

CraigThompson 04-29-2015 07:47 AM

Seems to be an 8 in the 5th picture but it doesn't appear to be either of those on the LCS Collectors Assoc 2015 calendar .

Brian Dudley 04-29-2015 09:05 AM

I do not recall an 8g smith.

I agree that Parker could have had more guns on display on our side. I did my part. As well as a couple others, but it could have been much better. It didn't help that Gary was tied up setting up his fantastic display at Ruth's.

Mills Morrison 04-29-2015 09:29 AM

Brian did his part and we will make sure Brian has room for his display next year. I am thinking we could get two racks for a display and do a theme like waterfowl guns, upland guns, highlight a grade or era.

Mills Morrison 04-29-2015 09:30 AM

Yeah, I missed the 8 gauge the first pass through but it was there.

Mills Morrison 04-29-2015 09:53 AM

Julia also suggested some blaze orange Parker hats, for those bird hunters among us.

"It didn't help..."??? Strange statement...

Is Gary somehow obligated to display his guns in the tent?

Mills Morrison 04-29-2015 02:19 PM

I don't think that is what Brian meant.

Brian Dudley 04-29-2015 03:09 PM

What I meant was that Gary always has some nice guns to display. And he could not spend much time at the tent due to setting up an even more impressive display for the dinner.

But I thought that is what I said to start with.

Dean Romig 04-29-2015 05:19 PM

Thanks Brian - I agree, Gary has some fantastic Parkers. I only wish I could have been there to see the guns at the Foundation event.

Craig Larter 04-29-2015 05:30 PM

I think the lc Smith display was wonderful. Full disclosure I had a gun on display. They picked a theme and asked for member participation.

Mills Morrison 04-29-2015 08:53 PM

One thing LC Smith does really well is their displays. They had a waterfowl gun exhibit at one of the northern shows I wish I could have seen in person.

Gentlemen, Parkers will be on display at next years shoot at deep river, the good lord willing, I will see to that, what about a display of different gauges? or just high grade guns? sorry I did not want to bring those guns that were at the HOF banquet, out in the moisture in the tent, I had 20 guns on display at the dinner, thanks to Brian for a nice display at the shoot, Brian I will have a presence next year! Gary

Mills Morrison 04-30-2015 10:40 AM

Thanks Gary! How about you and I coordinate closer to the time? I am thinking less high grade/high value guns and more of an informative display. Early hammer guns . . . . Evolution of Grade 2 Parkers . . . . something like that.

Gary Carmichael Sr 04-30-2015 10:49 AM

Mills sounds like a plan to me! Gary

I heard about an intresting 20 gauge lifter I think Grade 3 that was sold at the Southern this year . That might make a nice center piece to the display

Somebody please tell us more :corn:

Gary Carmichael Sr 05-01-2015 08:45 AM

Please do!, Parker only made 15 lifter 20 gauge hammer guns, in all grades and only around 6-7 have come to light, so far. I had two twenty gauge lifters at the HOF banquet, A grade 3, and an A grade, and I sure did not sell either, Gary

John Truitt 05-01-2015 09:19 AM

16 ga lifter grade 3 barrels not in good condition.

That one I did see, also David D. saw it, it was a shooter but had a lot of wear, I made an offer and he came back at three times my price so I said thank you for letting me look at it. Both David and I thought my price was about right.

CraigThompson 05-01-2015 10:24 PM

I was told the guy that had the 16 also had a 20 gauge lifter and that the 20 gauge was sold but then the owner got a bit price happy with the 16 .

He told me that the 16 was the only gun he brought with him. Who knows but the price he wanted on the 16 ga was crazy money...

I was told he wanted something in the 20G neighborhood for the 16 . The fellow that told me that also said the barrels were suspect as to whether they were shoot able any longer .
