Question on the challege rules
I shot sporting clays today with a friend who won both the 16 and the 20 ga at the Southern SXS last year. He wanted to shoot in the LC/Parker Challenge, but he has a late manufacture Marlin LC Smith and was not allowed. Reviewing the above "sticky" on the challenge rules would also disqualify a Parker repro.
So my question is in the Parker/ Fox competition at Hausmann's are CSMC Foxes allowed? BTW, I told him I would lend him a Parker to shoot at the Southern if he wants to shoot it( and also at Ernies), he would be a real 1st round draft pick. |
Harold, Let me check with Steve on this for the Fox/Parker Challenge. Ill get back to you.

Harold,
CSMC Fox guns will be allowed at this year's Fox/Parker Challenge. The rules will be amended to reflect that change. The Fox Nation respects that all eyes in Meriden are keenly focused on the impending L.C. Smith Challenge, thus we will hold off on our perennial PR "assault" until the completion of the closing ceremonies in Sanford. Scout's honor......... :corn: Respectfully, Ad Roll---Fox Sales Dept. |
The rules of the Smith-Parker Challenge allow "New Haven Smiths". That seems to include Marlin Smiths. Were the reintroduction 1971 Smiths made in New Haven? I think so.
|
And so Parker Repros are not allowed why??
What, at this point, is the difference? (to coin a phrase) :duck: |
i am soooo confused
:vconfused: |

I had no idea Dean was a Counselor although he does offer a sympathetic ear to our questions- or is that a Counselor at Law in which case I wanna see proof.
But really---- who cares? The "wild men" hammer boys shoot custom steel barreled space age weapons, there are many other re-built Parkers on the course with post 1942 innards and accessories. Some guns have barrels from other guns, or fore- ends or Butt stocks or have been re-stocked, etc. I know I don't care. |
Steve, I've never had anything to do with concocting the rules. I'm just asking (probably the umteenth person to do so).
|
Yeah George, we've had all those discussions before too.
|
My friend did have one of the new Marlin LC's from the early "70's. That boy can really shoot and was actually shooting some of the easier targets yesterday with his left hand behind his back, swinging with his right hand only.

Harold, you're making Team Fox awfully nervous. Who is this mystery man? Oh, what am I saying? If he's truly that good, I'm sure Messrs Suponski and Romig have already offered him a lucrative signing bonus via cell phone! Those two could make the final edit of "Great Performances" based on their legendary, talent acquisition capers, alone!!! :bigbye:

OK, our very close friend, Mr. Skeuse, must admit that his gun was made under contract by a company in Japan, through Winchester. This is a bit different from a gun that was made in the Marlin factory by the owners of the L.C. Smith name. I don't see much harm in letting someone use a 1971 Smith in the Challenge. It is a real Smith, made in the Marlin factory. I see a bit of a problem with the use of Parker Repros. The Skeuse company has no connection with the original Parker or Remington company or factory. The CSMC Fox is a real Fox and should be welcomed in the Parker-Fox competition at the Northeast Shoot.

1)What is the harm with letting someone use a repro? Do they shoot better? 2)Tony Galazan has no connection to the original Fox factory. They may be licensed but he didn't work there or own it then. 3) In my opinion the CSMC is not a real Fox. Its gorgeous, but it is not an original Fox. |
Do y'all have to use vintage shells for this event?
Isn't this competition supposed to be, you know, all in good fun? :corn: |

Lies, lies.... all lies. No. 1 - Never done that - never will! No. 2 - Never done that - never will! Hey Tool.... you should be ready to back up what you say. :draw: |

You may have been caught in the maelstrom of guilt by association Deanno!!Though it does appear that 5th District Representative Suponski has taken the 5th????
|
Gents, it has been decided that Parker Reproductions WILL be allowed in the Fox/Parker Challenge.
|
Thanks for that info Dave.
A Parker Reproduction is as much a Parker as a CSMC Fox is a Fox, or an Ithaca Classic Double is an Ithaca, or a CSMC Model 21 is a Winchester Model 21. |
Well what did you do that for? I'm going to be shooting REAL Parkers.
What's this world coming to...? |
I hope the Repro 12 gauge will compete well with the Meriden Parker eights and tens.

I, personally, do not object.
