8 Attachment(s)
I tripped and fell into this today. Not perfect, but with a little help, it'll be close. Serial number 6949, 10ga 32" BBLs. Bores are near perfect, action tight as new, however, had broken hammer screw, which i already drilled and EZ outted, a chip out of the butt stock and barrel finish is So So.

Great find! The treatment of the checkering pattern at the front of the wrist panels is very interesting. There is a good amount of remaining case color on the locks. However whatever fine engraving there is on them (like dogs and such), is not very visible. At least not in the photos. I am sure the gun could benefit greatly from a good cleaning.

I saw the gun at the show. Came back to buy and was gone. I ended up with 250 grade instead. I could not believe that both were there at reasonable prices. Nice early gun.

Assuming you all were in Tulsa? Great find, beautiful fun.

Latest C
Did you do the work on the screw? Nice work.
|
Yes, turned, threaded, slotted and engraved.
|
Great find John! You did a wonderful job on that screw also. Congratulations.
|
Awesome!
|
Very nice and congrats !
I like it a lot . If I had lucked into that one I have a gunsmith buddy that could have done everything on the screw except the engraving . But we have a guy that engraves for us but he isn't inexpensive by any stretch of the imagination . |
You don't fool around! Less than one day to make a new screw and engrave it is pretty impressive! Great find and glad that gun has a proper home.

Those "C" grade lifters are great guns, and pretty scarce! great find and excellent work on that screw! Gary

John: do the barrels by chance carry Birmingham Provisional Proof?

No, the only thing the bbls have stamped on the Tube is 34 on the left and a D on the right. Both near the flats. The right flat has a weight of 5 little 2 and the little J. J. Stamp on the right flat.

I received more information about my Shotgun. It turns out it is a $200 dollar grade, I would guess during that year, a Grade B, completed in April of 1876. The kicker is that is was made for the Centennial Exposition in Philadelphia, PA. In February of 1877, it was sold by the Charles Parker Company.

congrats on a great gun, Gary
