I've been getting Buster ready for my turkey hunt with Charlie Cleveland in Mississippi next week. I thought a new suit to hide the shine from some wise old Tom might be a good idea. Does anyone else camo up their Parker?

Rick Losey 04-08-2015 05:13 PM

as long as YOU don't scratch your name under that "upgrade"

:rotf:

Mike Franzen 04-08-2015 05:30 PM

Thank you for that! I had a good laugh when I read it. I used my old wood burning kit and put a picture of me shooting a turkey on the stock. Can't see it though.

charlie cleveland 04-08-2015 07:18 PM

the old gun looks good dressed out in hercamoflage...things are looking good for a good hunt if the weather will play along with us...looking foward to this hunt...charlie

Mike Franzen 04-08-2015 09:03 PM

Let's keep our fingers crossed for good weather. I'm looking forward too it as well

Yes, I have ever since I bought this 10 ga. Grade 3 that someone kindly took ALL the finish off leaving it looking like it was nickel plated, "lock, stock, and barrel". Stretch-cloth camo tape sure does the trick.

charlie cleveland 04-08-2015 09:53 PM

good hooks on that big tom...looks like the camo done the trick on this bird....charlie

Mike, I don't camo my Parker's when hunting turkeys, I just find shade for my hide, hope to call 'em in tight and smoke 'em. Good luck to you and Charlie!! I'll be on the Kansas/Nebraska line next week hunting giant easterns with son Tim and good friend and call maker Niles Oesterle. I'm looking forward to your Mississippi stories and pictures

Mike Franzen 04-08-2015 11:56 PM

Thanks Jim. That's a great looking gun you have there. Hope you get to pull the trigger on your hunt. I'm looking forward to telling a story about hunting with you too.

Mike Franzen 04-09-2015 12:01 AM

Dean the wood on your gun looks like it's in great condition. That's a big bird laying there. I actually got the camo tape idea after seeing a pic of your camoed Silver beauty

Mills Morrison 04-09-2015 02:34 PM

I use the same stuff with my 8 gauge. I want the turkeys to think it is a Benelli and not be too scared.

Not only is Mike's gun camouflage. The tape will also keep those dangerous Damascus barrels from blowing up.

Mike, it's oil finished.

That's a big bird laying there.

Actually only 19.6 lbs.

I actually got the camo tape idea after seeing a pic of your camoed Silver beauty

I thought the tape was pretty necessary.

Mills Morrison 04-13-2015 10:47 AM

I am thinking about finding a camo gun sock or something that I can slide on and cover up the whole gun and can be taken on and off. Not sure how to do that though and all of my extra time is tied up hunting until the end of the season right now

Dean Romig 04-13-2015 11:23 AM

I tried that gun sleeve thing Mills. Much too cumbersome when you need to break the gun open or de-cock the hammers. That's why I went with the tape... much easier to use, for me anyhow.

Destry L. Hoffard 04-15-2015 02:35 PM

I prefer spray paint.

wayne goerres 04-15-2015 08:53 PM

Its a shame you guys missed out on that black Parker I bought a wile back. Its still one of the uglest guns I have ever owned.

Mills Morrison 04-15-2015 08:59 PM

I got a rusty old hammer gun Brian helped bring back to life. The rust blends right in with the leaves

Mike Franzen 04-16-2015 09:42 PM

Buster's going in naked in the morning. Rain is forecasted and I don't want the old boy locked in a wet sock all day. Charlie's taking a MIGHTY 8!

Dean Romig 04-16-2015 09:47 PM

Give em all you got fellas!

Mills Morrison 04-17-2015 08:04 AM

Good luck Mike and Charlie!

Dean Romig 04-17-2015 08:12 AM

8 a.m. and Mississippi is getting slammed with heavy rain. Turkeys don't care much about rain but some turkey hunters might...

Mills Morrison 04-17-2015 09:34 AM

Dean, Make sure you tell that to the turkeys. They are safe. There aren't any hunters with Parker 10's or 8's stalking them now.

Mike Franzen 04-17-2015 03:18 PM

Live Update- it is raining. We are in the field. A hen is walking amidst our decoys .…

Dean Romig 04-17-2015 03:37 PM

Start gobbling right NOW!! Drag that monster to you from wherever he's sneakin about.

Mills Morrison 04-17-2015 03:42 PM

Good luck! Fingers crossed!

charlie cleveland 04-17-2015 07:59 PM

old buster is a mighty fie looking turkey gun we just did not have anything to shoot at today...now we have a true parker reporter covering the front lines... we go at it again in the morning same time same place.... charlie

Jim DiSpagno 04-17-2015 09:47 PM

Hey Charlie, tell Mike to just "talk turkey" to them gobblers like he does to me when he wants another Parker. It should bring them in a strutting. LOL good luck fellas. Jim

Mills Morrison 04-19-2015 09:58 AM

Hope you all got one. Charlie doesn't know it but the turkey police have him identified as a person of interest in the recent killing of one of them. Turkey forensic experts found pellets from the murder weapon and traced them to an 8 gauge hull made in Charlies shop

More details to follow

Fred Preston 04-19-2015 12:28 PM

Tomorrow morning is green flag here. Chance of Tstorms in the forecast. Just another feature to lengthen the odds.

Mills Morrison 04-19-2015 03:34 PM

I will save most details for parker pages. Sorry to hear you and Mike didn't get one, but that is how they operate. I have had the worst luck of anyone up till now. got him Saturday morning, so you and Mike got one in spirit

Mills Morrison 04-19-2015 03:36 PM

Went out again this morning and they were laying real low

Mike Franzen 04-20-2015 01:24 AM

Congrats Mills on your success! Turkeys are so hard to kill.

Mills Morrison 04-20-2015 06:59 AM

I was beginning to think impossible. If it helps your story Mike, I got him Saturday morning while you all were hunting with one of the shells Charlie made for me. Charlie got one in spirit

Mike Franzen 04-20-2015 10:00 AM

Yes sir! I'll claim that. Charlie killed the turkey. All you did was point the gun and pull the trigger. Would that hold up in court?

Mills Morrison 04-20-2015 10:00 AM

The turkeys sure blame Charlie
