10ga 36" bbl
I aquired a parker 10 hammer gun with 36" bbl. It is a G grade in about 30% condition. It is damascus and a size 6 frame. The sn.is 131021. I was wondering
about the rarity of the 36" bbl. I'm not rely a Parker guy but have been dealing and collecting of 40 years and never seen one. Also interested in what it might be worth. |
This is the wrong section of the forum to post his. But it's a 'wow' gun. Pics?
Thanks, I'm new to this sort of thing my first post. Can imove to the right place . I dont have any pics and would not know how to get them on the post
Im taking the gun to the Tulsa gun show this weekend
The Parker Story shows 23 total 10 gauge Grade 2 Parker hammer guns with 36" barrels. The value is impossible to determine without examining the gun in person, but if you post some pictures some members may be able to give you more help in that direction. The research letter serial number look up indicates records exist for your gun. They are probably from the order books. You would need to request a research letter to access this information. HTH

If this is the one that was on Gunbroker last year, it is probably worth about what you paid for it.
I've seen 36" ten gauges, but I've never seen a #6 frame hammer gun.
This gun has been in the back of a pawn shop since the 1960's the previous owner recently passed away. I don't know what it weights It bottems out a ten lb postal scale my guessis 15 to17 lbs
Im trying to put some pics on here but i haven't figured it out yet |
Rob: Where are you going to be located at in Tulsa. Thomas

This should be pictures of the 36" 10Ga gun.
Wow, what a gun! I am no expert, but that looks like a grade 3 to me. Rob, are you sure on the serial number? I would have thought it to be earlier.
I agree with Eric. If PGCA has records for it, you would be well served joining PGCA and ordering a research letter on it. That is the kind of gun that could have been ordered by someone famous
Wowza Rob.
I would really like to see what the barrel thickness of a 6 frame 10 ga looks like from the breech and/or the muzzle. It must be extremely thick if it weighs 15+ lbs. I also suggest you double check your serial number, grade stamping if there is one. Sorry I am no help when it comes to valuing this configuration. Best, Erick |
OMG what a cool gun!!!
Stunning. Certainly a Grade 3 (D Grade). Thanks for sharing! ----Matt
Rare gun with only a handful found in the serialization book by grade and barrel length. Most found in the 41-50K range. Book doesn't give frame size but very rare to da the least. A good condition report and better pics of areas of interest would give a better chance for estimates.
The barrel fit looks funny, like someone smashed the end with a hammer.
Looks like the barrels may have been dropped on the breech end. Hopefully a good barrel guy can fix that. Still, an awesome gun.

try holding them up for long :rotf: |
maybe someone used 'em to drive fence posts into the ground
I'm kinda with Mr. Murphy on the #6 frame....I wonder if it isn't really a 5 or 7? |
That dent in the barrel face would concern me.
Sorry it took so long to answer it along way from Fl to Tulsa. The sn is correct. The breech end corner is damaged where it has been dropped. It still locks upwell and I feel that it is repairable. I am a gunsmith but why? it part of its History. The wall thickness at the muzzle is about an 1/8th of an inch. It is a grade 3. I found a bigger scale the gun weighs 15 1/4 lbs.
There is a 6 stamped on the bbl lug
bob that 10 ga is the heaviet one i ve ever heard of in ten gauge..there s not many 8 ga that weigh 15 1/2 lb...but sure is a interesting old gun..the opening lever on your gun is called a fish tail by the way...charlie
I ordered a letter (thanks Chuck and the new on line system!!!!) and it is indeed a 6 frame 10 ga. weighting 15 1/4 lbs. with 36" bbls. It is on the way to me. I was hoping it was an 8 but at least now I don't need to invest in loading 8 ga. equipment. A good friend inspected the gun and it appears to be honest in all respects with a few warts. Maybe I can shoot a few ducks with the old beast and write and article for PP or DGJ.
can't wait to see that on the clays course :rotf:
Good job Craig!
Craig, This is you first hammergun huh? Oh Boy.....Here we go!
Dave: Yes it is my first Parker hammer gun. I have the hammerless covered pretty well so time to add a hammer gun. I started big!
If you really want to feel a new sort of pain, open the gun, plant your thumb over the firing pin, cock the hammer, and pull the trigger.
like i always say when some one holds something out and says "smell this - it stinks"
no thanks- I'll take your word for it |
Very nice and congrats !
I like that gun quite a bit . |
Yeah, you started BIG alright..... don't come any bigger. Like I said, eat your Wheaties and you may consider a hernia belt.:rotf:
could you tell us what weight these barrels are..it will be marked on the barrel flat if you do not know...for a gun this heavy i m guessing they weigh around 10 lbs..also bet this may be a 3 1/2 inch chambered gun...just wondering hope you can tell us....charlie
The barrels are marked 10 6 the letter states 2 7/8" chambers. Has anyone ever seen a heavier set of barrels. It's about the coolest waterfowl gun I have never seem. It's a time capsule from the golden age of duck hunting. Bringing it to the southern.
I almost got a big 36" 10 gauge last year, but passed on it. It was a project gun and I do not need more projects.
Look forward to seeing that gun, Craig |
Min wall .085 . .042 chokes in both barrels

I've seen 12-1/2 pound barrels. But they were 8g. Can't wait to see if this weekend. |
My 38" 8 ga. on a 7 frame is stamped 10 9. My 6 frame 10 with 34" barrels are stamped 6 13.
