Parker Pages Spring Issue

Keep your eyes on your mailboxes folks - The Spring Issue has been mailed.

There are a number of excellent feature articles and stories in this issue and I even had to hold out a story til the summer issue because we (eventually) received enough contributions to fill this issue.

A BIG "Thank You" to those who sent material for Parker Pages.

King Brown 02-20-2015 10:09 AM

I'm holding out for a feature story on Destry, where he lives, what he does to afford travelling the world for gunning adventures, when he will write the book. Promise it'll come within a year and this old pensioner will buy a membership just to read it. Promise one on the amiable fellow flying a Stinson in Alaska and I'll buy another membership the next year.

Larry Stalnaker 02-20-2015 10:35 AM

Great reply Mr. Brown. I have to imagine there are a large number of people on this site about which books could be written. Enough to make most of us life members probably!

[/I].

Yeah right.
Me and Edgar will be planting tomatoes before we get ours, Dean. You must have our copies mailed from some obscure zip code to save the PGCA money. The wait starts.........

Dean Romig 02-21-2015 07:45 AM

Nope, the all go to the main post office in Traverse City, MI. The problem lies with the central USPS Distribution Center in your area.... probably Hartford. They probably treat periodicals and such as fourth rate mail and distribute it accordingly. Maybe you should have a chat with the Postmaster there.

Spring Issue

Got mine today.:) Just thumbing through but looks be another great one. The PP alone is worth the price of admission. Thanks to all that contribute and especially to our esteemed editor. Bob:bowdown:

George M. Purtill 02-23-2015 05:03 PM

Miracle of miracles the USPS delivered my PP.
What a great article on Case Colors.
I can't wait to go home and pour some of that Apple Pie moonshine my SC friends brought me and find a quiet place to read. Away from entertaining Charlie Purple.

Dean Romig 02-23-2015 05:05 PM

Golly-Gee George, somebody up there musta heard you whinin'.....

Mine arrived today in western New York. Well done! Charlie Price's article on case color was most informative. Look for the floor plate streak---great tip!
I think this is a good example from my understanding.

Rick Losey 02-23-2015 06:41 PM

same here

Parker Pages arrived along with a couple old boxes of new primed 10 gauge 2 5/8 paper hulls

good day

I can smell the black powder already,

Larry Stalnaker 02-23-2015 07:18 PM

Got mine today too. This is my first issue and I have to say I am pleased beyond my expectations. I also got my intro kit with pin, letter, etc. It was just like Christmas!!!

Great publication, just as I expected based on my experiences on the forum.

Thanks to all responsible.

I bet Charlie purple can't wait to read the Parker pages to.

David Noble 02-23-2015 09:38 PM

Got mine today here in Texas! Earliest I've received one. I'm usually 2 weeks behind everyone else.
Now, to get down to reading it.

Bobby Goins 02-24-2015 10:15 AM

Received mine yesterday and have thus far very much enjoyed Mr. Price's
article on case colors and my fellow North Carolinian Mike McKinney's Back Home Again story.

Parker Pages is well worth the small cost and articles like Mr. Price's
are exactly what a new to Parker guns person like I should be reading!

Michael Murphy 02-24-2015 11:37 AM

Received my copy yesterday. Great issue. Lot's of interesting stories and pictures. Thanks to all who contributed articles and to the "production team."

Fred Lowe 02-24-2015 05:13 PM

Mine came in yesterday too.
The USPS always amazes me........ sometimes by how slow things move, but sometimes by their speed!
Great issue. Thanks to all that participated.
There is much for me to learn.

CraigThompson 02-26-2015 02:20 PM

Hmmm six days since you sent them out and I've not recieved anything .

Dean Romig 02-26-2015 02:24 PM

Don't feel left out Craig - the editor is still waiting for his.....

out in the snowbank???

Dean Romig 02-26-2015 03:37 PM

No I have a real mailbox that I'm always shoveling out.... along with all the hydrants in my neighborhood that none of my neighbors seem to care about.

George M. Purtill 02-26-2015 03:44 PM

Charlie Price

It is not polite to talk about him in the third person but....That guy has forgotten more stuff about Parkers than I will ever know.
We are so lucky to have giants like him helping us.
And after reading about case colors I realized I don't know squat what to look for.

Dean Romig 02-26-2015 04:16 PM

Charlie Price is a treasure and a great friend... it's no wonder at all why he was inducted to the Parker Gun Foundation's Hall of Fame.

wayne goerres 02-26-2015 05:12 PM

I think this is the best edition of Parker Pages that I personally have received. Pretty darn good.

Yup Dean does an amazing job. even with the stuff he has to put up with.

Dean Romig 02-26-2015 05:52 PM

It's the great quality of the contributions of well written and well researched Parker material along with a lot of high quality photos that makes Parker Pages what it is.
That and the expertise of the graphic artist, Brandon, at the publisher.
All I do is..... well, everything else I guess.

That's no excuse I have a POST OFFICE BOX .

Seems to me if they could have made it to Texas and Mississippi as well as the northeast it shoulda been here in Virginia as well .

Dean Romig 02-26-2015 06:07 PM

Yup - You should have a little chat with your postmaster at Central Redistribution.

Dave Suponski 02-26-2015 06:46 PM

My son recieved his copy three days ago and mine still hasn't arrived and we live in the same house! Maybe I've been excommunicated....

Daryl Corona 02-26-2015 06:53 PM

Wayne, I agree. Best PP I've ever read and there have been some good ones. Thanks Dean et al for the effort.

I'm waiting for delivery in California.

Perhaps the USPS sent the issue via the Panama Canal...

Thanks to all,

Patrick

I have my doubts if it's a PO issue and more of a maybe it wasn't sent in the first place issue . As other then the copy that came with my initial package I've not received an issue via normal mail yet .

Dean Romig 02-27-2015 06:41 AM

On what date did you finally become a paid Annual Member Craig? Okay, I just looked it up on my membership roster - you joined on December 2, 2014.

It is my recollection that the Spring 2015 Issue is only the second issue since you joined - the Winter 2014 Issue being the other one. Incidentally, a Forum Associate isn't eligible to receive Parker Pages.

To publish and mail Parker Pages costs the PGCA $28 and some change per member, per year. That's more than 2/3 of the annual Member's dues of $40. And in case anyone might think otherwise, Parker Pages is published quarterly, not monthly

Which makes this the first issue I should have recieved via the normal mail procedure .

Mike Franzen 02-27-2015 01:33 PM

Got my issue today! I finally decided to go to the mailbox for the first time in a week. Another great issue. Thanks Dean for your hard work and dedication and thanks to all who took the time to contribute.

Dave Noreen 02-27-2015 02:03 PM

Made it to the Washington/Idaho border today. Looks like some great reading.
