It's a small world (No, not Disneyworld)

Am on Sanibel Island, and was taking my Lab "Crazy Daisy" on a walk, wearing an RST hat, when I meet the next door neighbor (we're both seasonal renters) who sees my hat and says "Do you like old doubles?" I say "Yep" and the discussion begins. Turns out it's Joe Ross, who recently posted about Vent Rib Damascus guns. He and I have now had several nice talks, and our wives are both crafters of one sort or another. I think a couple of glasses of wine and dinner may be in our future. Old guns are the ties that bind.

You know there is some good hunting just east of Sanibel. You could really pass the time productive manner.Girls will never know your gone.

Bob - Is that a preserve or wild birds? Is there a contact number? Probably won't work for me this year, as the only gun I have down with me is a big, heavy K gun, and my dog is a flushing Lab.

We have a lot of wild birds but this year has been real wet so I have tried not pressure them.Bring a small bore next year and give it a try. Also snipe here and ducks.Got a quail hunt in the am so I'll let you know how it goes.

Bob has great hunting. Bring along a 20ga or smaller and you will have a ball!

This is tough. The sweat is causing the suntan lotion to run into my eyes. Boy, does that sting!

Richard Flanders 02-16-2015 12:22 PM

Hell, it's 33deg at my house this morning!

John Dallas 02-16-2015 12:23 PM

Gary - Have you been to Gulf Coast Clays (aka Port of the Islands Gun Club) which is about 25 miles east of Naples on 41? Pretty nice track. Will be shooting there on Friday

Well its in the upper 40's this morning topping out in the 70's this afternoon. We got out and took 10 quail out of 5 covey's.The guy I had today had never hunted with me before so the birds caught him a little off guard.Dog did well and its finally dried up enough to hunt.
He arrived this morning with his gun of choice a WW Greener 12ga that was beautiful.Original case with all the accessories.A nice small framed gun with 28" barrels I think 1936.

Even I'm going south, if only for a few days. Spending a week in Miami starting a week from Thursday. This -10 degrees crap is getting old.....

John Dallas 02-17-2015 10:07 AM

Wear your Jones hat on South Beach. That'll show'em some real fashion.

Gary Carmichael Sr 02-17-2015 11:11 AM

Mr D I have not been to that facility, Usually go to the Hendry county Sheriff facility on route 80, Daryl is there every Wen and Sat, I did not bring a gun this year, believe that? Gary

Destry L. Hoffard 02-17-2015 01:27 PM

John I think I'll stick with my linen Capas newsboy for my Florida visit. The Jones still hasn't lost "that certain smell" from this past season. They might not let it on the plane.....
