VH 20 on the clays course at The Rock
I posted on another thread how my member friend Dave “Autumn Daze” steered me to a really nice 20 bore VH with 28-inch tubes. PA grouse season is long closed and although I have a NY license, a friend’s place in the Catskills is snowed in. I’ve been itching to shoot the Parker but it’s been pretty cold, single digits rising into the ‘teens. But today was a tad milder and my shooting gang got together at Rock Mountain for the 100 bird course that was set for yesterday’s winter tournament. There were six of us. I shot 6 stations with the Parker and 11 with my Perazzi. The 20’s were a mix of RST 2-1/2” shells with ¾ oz of 7.5’s, along with Remington 2-3/4” Gun Clubs and STS’s with 7/8 oz of 8’s. Top scorer was my friend Allen with his Beretta gas gun = 92 ex 100. And I’m happy to say the Parker & Perazzi combo did second place with 90/100. The VH shot like a dream and especially so for the first time I pulled its triggers. Needless to say, I owe Dave BIG TIME.
Here’s part of today’s lineup. That Parker is looking lonely but proud! http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/...psfb3qr3nz.jpg |

Frank, I am so glad that little Parker learned how to get along with all those Fox's in your safe! I can just hear her now....Okay you're gonna shoot me today so i'll just show ya what I got! Here's a picture of her before she left Connecticut.

good shooting and some nice guns in that rack for sure...charlie
|
That sweet li'l 20 puts those other guns to SHAME!!
|
What a pretty Parker.... a rose blushes between all those thorns.

VH guns are great...I like the round knob...she should feel right at home with the Fox guns....(-: I really like my VH guns and have 3 VH small gauge guns, one in 20ga. with 28" barrels and two 16-s, one with 28" barrels and the other a two barrel set that came with 26" barrels made in 1922 and a set of 32" that were added by the factory some time after but before Remington. The 32" barrels have the Parker proof overload stampings but the 26" set does not. I plan to get a letter for that one. S.N.= 197902 SXS ohio

Last time I shot Sporting Clays at Central Virginia Sporting Clays I carried a 20 gauge VHE and a 20 gauge Sterlingworth .
I think I missed as many with one as I did with the other . Although my VHE is M&F and the little Fox is IC&M . |
I dont recall seeing a round knob grip on a VH before, was that very common? I'll be shooting my VH and VHE 20's at the SXS shoots this year, maybe we will have a whole rack full of them.
|
That grip was far more common on the Grade-0 .410's
|
We had a rather nice VH 16 gauge at the shop two or three years ago that had the round knob .
|
My old #2 frame 32" 20 VH has a round knob. I wonder where it is now? #153,333. Whoever has it please let me know. Thanks.
|
My VHE double trap has a round knob and double triggers.
|
I have always liked the round knob or POW grip. That I've not seen one on a V grade shows you what a sheltered life I lead( in other words , how little I really know)

Once again I want to extend a BIG THANK YOU to friend Dave "Autumn Daze" for putting me on this VH 20. Received the letter from Chuck today. I was wondering about the Cyl & Mod chokes which seemed to be right (to me) with the bore mike ..... but now confirmed with the letter. Everything else checks out 100%. Woohoo.

I have a v nice 28" M/F VH20 I got from the Ivory Beads guys. It has 3" DAH so not many wanted it. I can hardly miss anything with it. I love that thing!
