If you are in no particular rush, the best in the US is Dale Edmonds. 202 E. 66th Terrace, Kansas City MO 64113

John Campbell 01-31-2015 03:51 PM

Please check PMs.

I may be wrong but I don't believe Dale does English barrel browning.
I would recommend Kirk Merrington. He's in Kerrville TX I believe. Also there is Kearcher in Bend, OR.

Buck Hamlin in MO

KCordell 02-01-2015 11:49 AM

Thanks guys for the great recommendations. Do we have a url that lists the contact information for their shops?

Dean Romig 02-01-2015 03:48 PM

Apparently the shop is being run by Keith's son Kody.

Rick Losey 02-01-2015 04:33 PM

one of the other boards it was said Kody was a nephew, not sure which it is

Dean Romig 02-01-2015 04:51 PM

Yup, my rush to conclusions... he may very well be a nephew.

Question on barrel color for early hunter arms L.C.Smith with chain link damascus, it
appears to be more ofa brown and white than black and white such as Parker and Remington had?

Jim DiSpagno 01-23-2018 09:02 PM

Kirk Merrington in Kerrville Texas

Mills Morrison 01-24-2018 10:07 AM

Dale Edmonds is no longer doing Damascus barrels, last I heard. If you decide on him, check with him first before you send. It is too bad as well as Dale was one of (if not the) best.

It likely just aged that way. Some will do that.
I do not think any American maker actually “Browned” their barrels when new.

Drew Hause 01-24-2018 02:40 PM

Hunter Arms pattern welded barrels were originally "black & white", but will of course turn "plum" over time.

Browned

You may of course decide which you prefer

Peter Dornbach 01-24-2018 06:51 PM

Thanks to all in reply to barrel finish for my L.C.Smith, I think I will contact Brad Bachelder
about doing this work.
