......with a young lady and a Parker.

Dean Romig 01-17-2015 03:33 PM

That's right Mark - she is lovely. This particular portrait has been discussed here before several years ago. One of the points someone made back then was that the Parker has an unusually short forend... but maybe that's where it broke off when she slammed the forend on without checking that it was lined up correctly. It looks to have been nicely trimmed though.

In the Spring Issue of Parker Pages you will be treated to a few guns that were owned by a fellow who just couldn't stop breaking his forends in half

Unusually long trigger bow also. Nonetheless, she can park her gun in my rack anytime she wants to.

Mike Franzen 01-17-2015 07:06 PM

Looks as if it was painted with artistic license

Dave Suponski 01-17-2015 08:20 PM

There is a copy on EBay right now gents.

Rich Anderson 01-18-2015 07:37 PM

Frame it and it would make a nice addition to the gun room.

Love the early Gals with their big Hats and Parkers....

Best, CSL

This is a group of Dianas shooting at the (DuPont) Nemours club

I'll bet the 2nd from the right, who is holding a Parker, is the model for that magazine cover!

The DuPont picture looks like a shotgun wedding!

edgarspencer 01-20-2015 09:12 AM

Clearly, the ladies with the SxS are more attractive than the ones with the Model 12s. The lady with the Model '97 is downright scary.

Dean Romig 01-20-2015 09:27 AM

Could be Drew. The gun is not the same Parker that she is holding on the magazine cover as evidenced by the standard length trigger guard bow. :corn:

Drew Hause 01-20-2015 09:33 AM

John: Are you acquainted with the lady (?) in the middle

Dave Suponski 01-20-2015 09:41 AM

I have shot there. Still in existence. It's a nice club

Dean Romig 01-20-2015 09:55 AM

Dave - have you seen those girls there lately? I'll bet they don't look that pretty today... with the exception of the one in the center

John Dallas 01-20-2015 10:00 AM

Wonder if Destry has any of those hats in his collection?

John Dallas 01-20-2015 10:01 AM

Drew - Lady? Nah. I'm betting cross dresser.

Bill Murphy 01-20-2015 10:09 AM

Drew, referring to the lady with the Model 97, we will quote Joan Rivers describing Michelle O, "That be a man".

We know you have. And, May I say you look quite smart in your white dress.

Dave Suponski 01-20-2015 12:08 PM

Another of the Ladies Shoot at the Nemours Gun Club...

Dean Romig 01-21-2015 07:00 AM

That's a good photo. A lady behind the shooter has pheasant tail-feathers in her hat and either the breeze is pretty stiff or they have been bent to be stylish.

In nearly all of the old trap shooting pictures we see the ground is littered with shells and boxes. We never see a rubbish barrel. I'm glad that has changed in modern times.

Mike Franzen 01-21-2015 07:56 AM

They probably had young boys who they paid a nickel to clean all that up at the end of the day. Maybe they let the weeds grow up to simulate "field conditions"

Drew Hause 01-21-2015 08:17 AM
