New Member in Virginia
Good afternoon:
Just wanted to take a moment to check in and introduce myself to fellow members. Long time admirer of the Parker Gun and it's history. Dedicated waterfowler splitting time during the seasons between Virginia and my home State of New York. This year I re-discovered how much fun partridge hunting is while home and plan to do more of it in the future. I also belong to the Remington Society and my chief firearms interests are pre-WWII sporting arms. Professionally, I am currently Deputy Director of the U.S. Naval Academy Museum in Annapolis. For the past eleven years I was the Senior Curator of Ordnance at the National Museum of the Marine Corps in Quantico. Also a Navy vet, serving 20 years as an Aviation Ordnanceman. Married to a Brit gal, and she has me wearing tweed now instead of my trademark ball cap, Bean boots and chamois shirt. Anyway, thanks for having me and if you stop into the museum look me up. Kind regards, Al |
Welcome Alfred
sounds like you have a very interesting job |
Hi Al, and welcome to the Parker Gun Collectors Association!
You've certainly got some hash marks on your sleeve! I think you'll enjoy this organization - Thanks for your support of the PGCA. |
Welcome!

As I explained in another post, Al and I shared German Wirehair female littermates. I'm sure many of you know my Eva from side by side events. Al must tell you about his pup, whom I think he has turned over to a family member.
|
Bill:
Unfortunately, she passed away from a stroke earlier this year. She had been living with one of my sons and his family. She lived a good life though. Excellent pheasant dog and was adored by the grand-daughters. Very gentle and patient in the house with the girls, but she was a terror on roosters. |
Sorry to hear about your pup, Al. On the other hand, Eva is still a wild and crazy puppy and "a terror on roosters" is a bit of an understatement in her mind.
|
Welcome to the club Al. It is always pleasure hearing from Vets. I personally spent 21 years in the Air Force. Up, up, and away!!

Paul Adams-New member from Michigan.
I have always had an interest in Parker shotguns.
I purchased a Repro a number of years ago and was amazed at the detail. Recently I was bitten by the "Single Barrel Trap" bug and have been actively studying and pursuing one. I am an active Grouse hunter around the Grayling, MI area with my dog "Charlie". I look forward to meeting members and making friends. I'm also an active skeet, trap and sporting clays shooter. |
Paul - I will be arriving at our cabin near Kellogg's Bridge on the North Branch in about 4 hours. Am trying to figure out whether to shoot skeet in Grayling, or Clays in Lewiston on Sunday. Hope we can meet up. Are you a fly fisher as well?
|
John, I would enjoy shooting but will not be Up North till later this week. If your still around then possibly we can meet.
|
The only shooting in the area is Wednesday and Sunday. I'll be leaving here on Thursday, driving down to the OGCA show on Friday. If you're up before then maybe we can get together for a cuppa at the Grayling Restaurant, or a beer and burger at Spike's Keg of Nails.
