Saw this gun in the store the other day for sale for the whopping total of $2k. Barrels have been reblued well, wood is good, stock supposedly is original oil finish. Not in a position to buy right now--translation I am broke, but was curious if this was a good price. Would someday like to have a good representative english double.

i think this would be a average price for that nice of a gun...charlie

I had a beautiful Greener come my way a few years back. I couldn't believe it was only $1000 and bought it straight away. Sold it a year later for twice that and used the money to buy a parker

I would not think $2k to be a bad retail price of the condition is there.

Were the Greener stock heads all pinned or was that one repaired?

When I looked at it I wasn't certain if that was a stock pin, or if it was connected to the safety on the other side. Here is a pic I found online, different gun but same safety setup opposite of that pin.

Thanks Bill. I am not familiar with these guns and was curious about it. I'm sure you're probably right.

Lol Dean, you are as familiar with them as I am. I think it would be nice to own an English double, but know very little about them other then the famous ones and what I read in Best Guns.

Even with my self education I am doing, I am still trying to understand boxlock vs. sidelock lol. I know it should be pretty basic.

'F 16' is a designation for a Facile Princeps action, non-ejector, selling for 16 guineas. This method of grading was implemented in 1902. It is an 'inexpensive grade' and appears to be the lowest grade available in that model. I know that doesn't help with value, but thought you might like to know.

All Greeners that I have handled have been very well made and stoutly bbld guns. I'm sure a 10ga would not ever come apart on you and handle well. The cross bold design is excellent in my opinion. All Merkels have it and it locks them up like a safe. The bolt is tapered so can keep it tight as things wear. I like them.

The seller only says the barrels are blued and nitro proved, but we still don't know whether there is fluid steel or Damascus under that blue. Big difference in value. It looks like a great gun.
