Gun Show

Hello to all and look forward to cybermeeting ya'll.I just got my first Parker at a gun show.A once in a lifetime opportunity walking down the aisle wrapped in a blanket.Once opened a 20ga two barrel set CHE with titanic barrels.
Gun is in good shape and needs some cleaning.
Pictures coming soon as I have lots of questions.Got to get alot done in the next 3 1/2 months because this gun is bird hunting again.

wayne goerres 06-17-2014 02:52 PM

That's a nice acquisition for your first Parker.

Mills Morrison 06-17-2014 03:07 PM

Welcome Bob. That is a great first Parker.

David Noble 06-17-2014 04:16 PM

Welcome to the forums! I can't wait to see pictures of your great twenty gauge Parker.
I highly recommend that you join the PGCA and get a Letter on this gun.You will get a year of membership in the association, a quarterly publication called The Parker Pages that is full of stories and pictures of unique guns like yours, and an abundance of Parker knowledge, and the Letter could tell you some interesting and possibly valuable information about your gun! All of this for less than the cost of the letter for a non-member!
Glad you're here! David

The gun I believe is a CHE 20ga,two barrel set one 24" and one 28"

Dave Suponski 06-17-2014 06:23 PM

Bob, What are the barrel lengths? Looks to be a great gun. Congratulations...You done good!

Its an O frame with 3 weight barrels.Correct me if I'm wrong.

Bob Hayes 06-17-2014 06:34 PM

There is a 24" and a 28".Was the second barrel on these guns considered an upgrade or addition?

Alan Phillips 06-17-2014 07:01 PM

CHE 20

Bob, could you list the serial number. It is hard to read in the picture. #129827 does not show as a 20 gauge in the book.

Bob Hayes 06-17-2014 07:28 PM

The serial number is 129527

Jim DiSpagno 06-17-2014 07:46 PM

Book says Ti4,3 [added barrels and ejectors.C 20ga. 28" Great find and very valuable, worth restoring.IMHO Jim

Bill Murphy 06-17-2014 07:54 PM

Or worth not restoring. This is an astounding find.

Bob Hayes 06-17-2014 08:41 PM

Nice, I look forward to hunting.A little much gun but should be a blast when snipe season opens in Nov..
Just want to know about cleaning up for now. Also want to join here for membership. Then I'll need a new case and appropriate shells.Seems like you got to pay to play.
If ya'll can tell what does the finish look like?
I'll have better pictures later.Didn't think it was that hard to get a good photo of a gun.

Scott Janowski 06-17-2014 08:59 PM

It will be nice to see the letter on that one! Great find!

Dave Noreen 06-17-2014 09:53 PM

Great find!!

Larry Stauch 06-17-2014 10:49 PM

Beautiful gun

That is truly a great find. Most couldn't find one like that to buy if they wanted to; congratulations!

Larry

George Lander 06-17-2014 11:51 PM

I think Bill might be right about not restoring. Your gun needs a thorough cleaning & a new Hawkins pad, but if the bores are good it might be better left unrestored. What tales your gun might tell!

Best Regards, George

Dean Romig 06-18-2014 06:18 AM

Better pictures would be good. The stock may be a replacement, but I could be wrong.

Bob Hayes 06-18-2014 07:44 AM

The barrels are in good shape. The gun was definately used one barrel set more than the other.

George Lander 06-18-2014 09:29 AM

Bob: Please order a letter on this remarkable Parker and share it with us.

Best Regards, George

Bob Hayes 06-18-2014 10:17 AM

Will do got to work a few days to pay for these things.Going to jump over to general thread to see what else I might hear about this gun.

Brian Dudley 06-18-2014 10:53 PM

What a great find at a gun show!
The gun is lacking a bit in the "finish" category, but it is all there and looks to be good a solid. It has very good potential for some restoration, or a good candidate to leave as is and use it.
Well done for your first Parker!

Bob Hayes 06-20-2014 10:16 AM

I see I am listed as a forum associate.I joined yesterday and paid the $40 on the pay pal option.Does that make me a member or does it take a few days?

Bob Hayes 06-20-2014 10:23 AM

Just checked my card and saw it did not complete trans action.I redid it and looks ok now.

Dean Romig 06-20-2014 10:33 AM

Nevermind...

Bob Hayes 06-20-2014 03:01 PM

Thanks membership is active now.

Wow, beautiful, that turned out great.

Daniel G Rainey 05-16-2017 07:36 AM

Please keep us informed on how the clean up is going. That is a great gun that you found. CHE 20 ga do not grow on trees, and then you have that it is a 2 barrel set. Enjoy.

Brian Dudley 05-16-2017 08:19 AM

"Cleanup" is done. See pics on previous page.

Daniel G Rainey 05-16-2017 12:09 PM

Thanks for the update and what goes into a " restoration " of a truly great Parker.

Mike Franzen 05-21-2017 12:25 AM

What an improvement in appearance. Great gun!
