2014 Northeast Classic and Fox/Parker Challange
For those that could not attend the event at Haussmann’s Hidden Hollow this past weekend you missed a great time. The weather was spectacular all weekend and the shooting and vendors could not have been better. I would like to congratulate the Fox Team for once again rising to the occasion and shooting great when it counted. I would also like to thank Dave Suponski and Steve Cambria for organizing this fine event. There were a lot of changes this year and with that came some confusion that unfortunately prevented some shooters from turning in their cards. This will be corrected for next year and we hope the results will favor team Parker.

glad to hear everyone had a good time |
Rick,
you were missed. Hope you can make it next year, and yeah, guess we screwed up not turning in our scores, heck, we generally didnt even keep score. |

The Crazy Quail 5 stand setup was fun but.......
|
We plan to skip the Spring Southern next year and go to Hausman's instead
|
I've put a few photos in the earlier Event thread.
A note for anyone thinking of renting a cart next time: While settling my tab at the end I asked Bernie at the registration desk if she would like to know about a mechanical issue that our cart developed. She said, "No, we don't really care because this is the last time we will be having carts... they're too much trouble and we lose money on them." --allan |
Hausmanns and drakes are my two favorite places to shoot. I didn't turn in my card as who would have thought a lowly 31 would have made the team, but then again I am a non committed annual member:rotf:
Lots of nice guns to admire and droll over to say the least, so many guns so little cash:whistle: now I have to load shells for the shoot this weekend in Wisconsin what to take , what to take???? |
I want to tell everyone that Team Parker had the Fox's worried a bit after Team Parker shot first. They shot 6 shots per station for a team total of 30 shots. With the trap machine constantly rotating, it was kind of the luck of the draw what your report pair of targets were to be. Luckily we had 3 refs calling hits and misses because some of the targets were long range and black side facing you which made them hard to see. Our team shot very well but the Fox guys just a little bit better. It averaged out to just 2 shots per person difference.

Thank God there is always next year:) Everyone needs something to shoot for:rotf:

. . . and next and next. . . Hopefully a long tradition to come.

It was a great weekend with fantastic weather. It was great to see all who attended.
|
Somebody took some pictures of the Fox - Parker Challenge shoot including individual teams and combined team photos and trophy presentation. Looking forward to seeing them.

Thanks, Larry. A superb weekend of great guns, camaraderie and a wee bit of chestnut roasting, sprinkled-in for good measure.
While initially, I was not enamored with the traditional "Crazy Quail" set-up, I think in the end, our adjustments made for a reasonably level playing field. There is no doubt that the 2014 Fox vs. Parker Challenge made a quantum leap forward in achieving the true potential that both Dave and I envisioned several years back. I would like to thank my fellow scorers, the esteemed Chuck Bishop and Robin Lewis, and add that not once during the battle did we disagree on total targets broken. No easy task, especially when so many revealed only a black underside against the green back drop. I hope someone snapped a picture on Friday of Robin's tee-shirt? I came from a family where if you weren't dishing it out, you were BURIED alive. Robin's retort put me six feet under!! Great stuff!!! Kudos again to Mr. Frey's "better-half!!" Debbie shot "lights-out" and believe me, she had more than her fair share of NASTY pairs that were crushed like a PRO. Onward and upward from here! Next year: ESPN-2, FUJI Blimp and the Fausti Sisters!! See that.....no wise-cracks, no low-blows.......only the kinder, gentler, softer side of the AHFCA. BTW----still a few T-shirts left..................:bigbye: http://i1073.photobucket.com/albums/...inHenHouse.jpg |
T Shirt
Any left with the fox in the henhouse logo? I want one. Let me know how much and where to send check :rotf:

One last time for the photo's

Congratulations to the great performance of the Parker team, and especially to the performance of Debbie Frey, who told me that she was terrified of performing in a "finals" situation. It turned out that she carried her weight just fine. After all, she was in the top scores turned in, and made the team. Yup, that's the way it was. What a great shoot.

A few more pictures...
1. The Evil "Crazy Quail" traps spin continuously as the clays fly out in an infinite number of horrible target presentations. 2. They shot their best and Team Parker exits the shooting stations. 3. Team Parker, Larry Frey, Deb Frey, Dave Suponski, Pete Lester, and Frank Cronin with the prize that we will take back in 2015. 4. Scorers Robin Lewis, Steve Cambria, Chuck Bishop with Deb Frey. 5. Harold, Edgar, and Allen at their primitive campsite. . |

Was going to leave Sunday morning, but the day was so nice, I went back and shot the main event course, a compilation of the big bore/small bore courses. Shot with Edgar and Alan and had a great time. I shot my best score of the weekend with a beat-up VHE 20 choked cyl/cyl. Looking forward to seeing everybody again.
