Is anyone else having trouble getting onto the doublegunshop.com forums? I am having trouble.

it happens often, a day or so then they are back

I'm with Dudley on this one. Lasts couple times I got on there some of the threads were so out of control I just stopped. There are some real nuts on that forum, it's essentially non-moderated. It's one of those where the lunatics essentially run the asylum.

Yes, a near waste of time. And it all stems from lack of moderation.

I bought a good Trojan 20 off there, but then posters attacked classified ads so much, sellers just went elsewhere.

Exactly. Far too many "experts" who really don't know a fraction of what they think they know. There are some very knowledgable fellows but they are getting harder and harder to find.

I get on the (misfits) misfires section every once awhile just for the pure entertainment of it. I like to read the posts and after that it puts my life in better perspective. Thomas

I never understood why the for sale forum was allowed to degenerate into what has become? There's a fee for selling on there and I know running that site can't be free. I'd never post anything for sale and most folks I know wouldn't either. It's not that I have any fear of those idiots, it's just that I'd hate to send my $10 to somebody who won't take control of something that could be such a great asset to the hobby. If half a dozen posters were banned from the site it could become so much more and maybe some of the folks who were actually interesting might come back. So weird......

Destry, I know that Dave has banned a couple of troublemakers, but only after some over the top bad behavior. The worst offender is back on there but doesn't post very often.

Three guys gone would settle that site down in a big way. I just don't get it.....

There is one of our rejects over there and he has a terminal case of diarrhea of the mouth. Some things just never change. I very seldom look at that site.

I think we've got two rejects over there actually. Runs at the Mouth and Ed the Torch.....

Runs seems to have made a career out of getting banned from shotgun sites; he posted on the Fox site recently but as far as I know has yet to get himself banned there.

That guy just cannot help himself from replying to something without writing something short of a novel. And what is funny... it never pertains to the subject.

The worst to me are the nutjobs who continually bring the "misfires" crap over to the main forum.

It is a prime example of why gun forums should have "no politics" rules.

Politics is like pornography. Allow it on a site and pretty soon that is all there is. Even if I agree with people, I get sick of hearing about it.

. . . and just to be fair, there are still some good posts over there, particularly Drew Hause's study on Damascus barrels.

I was able to procure a couple of Husseys through Dave's site last summer.

It is a case of a few bad apples. One of the best transactions I have had is a 20 gauge Trojan I bought on there. Even in that deal, one of the troublemakers trashed that gun.

That's my biggest problem with the site. There are a handful of regulars who seem to feel it's there job to critique guns that are posted for sale. Their unsolicited opinions are what wreck the site. Dave has a thankless job but he would improve the forum if he would come down hard on the major nit-pickers.

That is why I KIND OF like the Lefever forums for sale section which is a no reply setup. But... then it eliminates the chance for questions. It is a good and bad type of thing. I know we discussed doing it here too. But I think it is overall best to leave the ability to reply. For Sale threads here do not often wander off course. And if they do, they are never negative in nature.

It should be no reply. If you have a question then pm or e-mail. That blocks the azz-holes who enjoy critiquing guns they have no interest in buying.

As for the two Husseys I bought through the site, I posted "WTB" for what I was looking for and both were easy deals.

The favorite gun/game pictures of the year are good too and the negative comments usually stay off those threads.

I am confident that the great majority of readers over there can evaluate idiots suffiently to make the site a pleasant experience. It has been a pleasant experience for me.

If you desire to make inflammatory remarks, or lower yourself to respond to such, then do so on the subject forum. There is no room for that on this forum.
