Arther DuBrays D grade on gun broker!
See auction no. 396690005 with a buy now. The association should buy this gun....thanks Kenny SXS ohio
|
I saw it as well. Wish I had the funds. Bet it sells within minutes!
|
It is still there. I do hope PGCA buys it.
|
Last time the PGCA acquired a gun, it was off face and the stock needed work. It went off to a fine gunsmith who had agreed to do the work at reduced price and when he got around to it. It took several years. Meanwhile, we had a member who complained on this forum about not seeing the gun again, alleged that it had gone off into a "black hole" and was now likely in somebody's private collection.
Never again. Maybe a member could buy the gun and exhibit it? There are several of us who haul around a bunch of guns to exhibit events and others could also. |
Thanks for the pointer, nice gun and priced to sell. It shouldn't be there long.
|
And it is gone.
|
Hopefully, someone on here got it.
|
Someone hit the buy now price of $5200 and it's gone. A nice gun for sure.
|
Anyone know if the seller was a member. Thomas

Interesting, I just noticed in which issue of Parker Pages this gun was written about. It just happens to be the same issue I used as an example of what Parker Pages is like for the non-PGCA members to view in the hopes they might join our organization.
So, if you are a forum member and not a PGCA member, you can read about this gun on page 37 of that issue. Go to parkerguns.org and click on the Parker Pages link on the left side. When the page comes up, click on the image of the Parker Pages and wait for the image to display (it can be slow). Enjoy the read. |
That was an excellent buy! Missed it by that much...:crying:
|
Shouldnt this have been in the Off Topic Forum ?
|
Yes it should have been.... but it's too late to change it now.
|
Had one of you astute members notified me I would have moved it.
As it was it required work albeit a small amount to find the auction. |
WOW! What are the odds of finding a Gun that was owned by the Man himself. Thomas:)
|
I could have bought it as I saw it prior to the Buy it Now...I felt the DuBray ownership added little appeal to me but the gun itself was probably worth the money all by itself. A D Grade with 32" barrels in nice shape? Pretty rare. On the other hand, the top lever sat well to the left which could mean a lot of wear...
In any case, I passed simply because I am currently heavily investing my funds in 1957 Desoto parts.... |
Interesting that the seller listed it as a 1 1/2 Frame.
A wonderful gun in any case. |

WOW! I never thought of that... What's your financial advisor's telephone number...? :corn: |
I've been searching for years for a nicely conditioned and all original Grade 3 fishtail toplever. Soon after Kenny alerted us to the this one's availability I went and checked it out -- three different times while it was still available. The last time I went so far as to click on the 1st "Buy It Now" button that takes you to the final "Commit To Buy" button, but I just couldn't do it. I want a gun to shoot and with this gun's helacious drop and very little damascus pattern remaining it just wasn't what I wanted. And because of its provenance you dasn't touch it for fear of destroying its significant historical value, the right thing to do was to pass on it . . . there will be others . . .
There, I feel better. |

This was a special shotgun....one to use?? don't know? I just had a 12 grade 2 top lever restored to perfection and it has filled my want for a hammer gun...(-: I did consider this gun due to being a grade 3 with the nice metal work but how could you mess with this one?, by having it freshed up. The drop in the stock 4" was also a turn off as 2.5" is what I like or even 2 3/8 is better. I hoped that one of our members would have bought it, the price seemed fair to me. And it sold in short order! Thanks all SXS ohio

The gun would have to have been restocked (with the original retained) for me to have been able to shoot it. If you can't use it whats the point? |
