No Powder Shortage?
|
not sure if that's a comment on powder shortage or common sense shortage

The 8 lbs of Red Dot is not as bad but over $200, wow. |
I'll add a Wow but actually I'm not too surprised. From what I've seen it's a sellers market for powder. Last week my local sporting goods store got a few 1 pound bottles of Red Dot. $29.95 plus tax and no discount for friends. I was there this morning for something and the RD was gone.
JFI - I talked with a friend in the industry last week and learned that NG production had been reduced when mining, quarrying etc went to stick emulsions, and the remaining production is heavily regulated. Net it seems there's a "shortage" of NG for making our modern double-base shotgun powders. |

Increased demand will certainly strain the resources used for manufacture ..... which came first, chicken or the egg?

$405, $385 and $365 plus $35 shipping for 8 lbs of Unique. Houston we have a problem!

Some people have more money than sence and it show's here.

i would try VERY hard to find a different load withan available powder befor I spent $300 for an 8lb jug but then I won't spend $10 for a box of 22LR ammo either.
I know powder availability is a concern for RST as well. |
Just for info, in the past two weeks I got (one each) eight pounder of 700-X and PB through high-volume distributors. The 700-X is in a jug marked with the typical "IMR" on the front label, and with the Hodgdon info on the back. The PB has "Hodgdon" on the front and back - not a single mention of IMR or IMR Powder Co anywhere. Yeah I've read that PB and 7625 and 4756 are being discontinued. So why did Hodgdon delete the IMR reference on the newest PB label ..... ?

A distributor informed me that the single base powders are being rebranded as Hogden. They said that they have seen rebranding of powders before. Mark |
