236,263?

I have requested a record check through Research Dept., but wondered if any of the membership have information about 236,263 (12 ga.)? Probably made about 1934? Many thanks.

BHE Acme steel barrrels capped pistol grip 12ga 32 in according to the book

Interesting. Parker 236263 was in inventory as a consigned gun at A&F in 1950 and according to that entry it was a 12 gauge BHE with 26 inch bbls. Chokes were 3/4 and Full so it was not cut down.

re-barreled then? a letter may be interesting, or if done by Remington, are there repair codes?

Dean Romig 02-21-2014 10:29 PM

Why is that serial number so familiar to my eyes.....

236263 must be a gun I've seen and or handled. It's just uncanny how that number is so familiar yet such an enigma.

Is that the BHE that Allen Newall had?

Ordering a PGCA letter may clear up the different barrel lengths. The SB entry could be the result of an error. The poster has not said what the present barrel length is.

Thank You

Thanks for info and suggestions. I have ordered PGCA letter. At present there are 2 sets of barrels, 32 inch and 28 inch, with same serial number as gun. Former owner indicated Remington may done some work?

Jeff

you can thank us by posting pictures

sounds like an interesting gun

Research Letter confirmed what was in the book. By 1950 the second set of barrels was with the gun. Although I am photographically challenged, will make some attempts when gun is in hand. Maybe there will be some Remington markings since this BHE was made not long before Parker Bros. ended?

Bill Murphy 03-02-2014 05:23 PM

You asked about Remington codes. Only you can tell us about the codes on the gun. We will be waiting to hear about them.

Thanks to the efforts of Mr. Beach I have learned that this BHE belonged to Hiram E. Manville, Jr., grandson of one of the founders of the Johns Manville Co.
If these photos upload, will try more.

Both sets of barrels are marked "Acme Steel." 28 inch bbls have BF, 32 inch bbls have splinter forend. Both sets of barrels marked with Remington repair code "LD3" all serial numbers are the same on all parts of the gun. BF has "2" under serial number and forend lug also stamped "2"
