movie question
Is that 8 gauge in appaloosa a parker? Pretty good show.
|
decided its not hinge area dosen't look right.
|
It's actually not even a real 8 gauge, it's just a movie workup of one. They thought a real one would be too heavy for the actor to hold as long as it takes to actually film the scenes.

I don't think my Parker DH 8 bore with 36" barrels would be my bar room brawl gun of choice...
|
Well Don, if it had sixteen inch barrels it would be pretty effective.
|
This ol farmboy thinks he could probably could hold his own with Dons 8 without any shells..............ch

Calvin, I watched a show on one of the gun channels where barroom self defense was demonstrated. An innocent was attacked by a drunk with a broken bottle. The demonstrator showed how to take a knife out of your pocket and sever the tendons of the arm holding the bottle. All the while there was a perfectly good barstool within reach, which any country boy would recognize as the preferred weapon in a bar fight.

A large glass beer mug (the kind with a handle) makes a fine feather duster when somebody wants to get a little too rowdy. I saved myself suffering a knife stroke or two with one back in the day and I assure you I'll never forget it.
In these days of most bars now having pint glasses instead, I've gone back to carrying a leather blackjack though my old faithful one is much the worse for wear. Anybody know where a man could buy such an instrument in these modern times? I've been looking to find a replacement for quite awhile but without success. DLH |
Destry,
A bar of soap in a sock...... I too would like to have one of the old leather blackjacks. Harry |

Or a bag full of quarters......:duck:

Harry,
That's sorta hard to carry and keep fairly concealed. *laughs* If I find a source I'll let you know. A buddy just bought a nice one on GunBroker believe it or not. Though since he did, I've been hawking for another without success. DLH |
I just want one to add to my toy box. I found out a long time ago that it does not matter if you win or lose. You are going to hurt for three months. If the siuation around me starts to deteriorate, I'm out of there. The only thing that would make me stay would be to get a friend out...
Harry (turned chicken) |
skip the old sap.
buy an ASP baton. it's no more illegal than a blackjack in most jurisdictions. |
Eh, I'm old school, and a blackjack fits right in the hip pocket of my pants. They're illegal? I never knew, maybe I don't want a new one. *laughs*

a lot of states classify them as weapons.
some states, IIRC, actually allow you to take a class that lets you carry one under a Concealed Handgun License, as a less than lethal alternative. |
What is the ballpark figure on an 8 Parker? The big guns look mean. Donnie Reels
|
dave, the bag of quarters again......................priceless ch
|
|
Donnie: There is a P Grade 8 gauge hammer Parker on Gunbroker now that is up to $8,495 with 3 days left. The last one that I sold was a G Grade hammerless and I believe that I got @ 12 Grand for it. It all depends on grade and condition.
Best Regards, George |
Thanks George I didn't know I see the one on gunbroker.com nice looking gun.
