CHE Value
What is the value of a 12 ga CHE no. 2 frame, PG stock, with 30" steel barrels in fair condition?
Thanks Ken |
I obviously posted this in the wrong area. How do you move the thread to another area?
|
Ken, that is an almost impossible question to answer without having the gun in hand. At least some high-res in focus pictures may prompt some guesses.
|
Very rough examples have sold for $3-4k.
If that gives you any sort of a worst case scenario. Please post some photos of your gun. Would be nice to see. |
I was looking to buy the gun and the pictures are ok. The guy is in TN and prefers to do a face to face. I'm in CO so I'm waiting to see if he'll change his mind. From the pictures I've seen, there is no case color and the stock has dings/scratches from 80 years of hunting. The screws are still timed and aren't buggered. Engraving looks good and barrel blue is 70%. To me it is a gun in original fair condition.
From what I understand, the configuration (12 ga, 30" barrels, PG stock) is common. I don't the number of CHE grades were made in this configuration. Ken |
What is his asking price?
|
The CHE was made in fewer numbers than any other grade.
|
Brian,
He's asking $3900. Ken |
Very reasonable.
|
Would that be Acme steel ?
|
Yes it is acme steel.
|
Sounds like a fair deal, but pictures would help.
|
Does the seller have a web site where we could look at the gun then give an opinion?
|
Is this 199078? The seller has had this gun for sale for a few years. The seller sent me additional pictures, the action had been buffed in my opinion and the barrels had extensive external pitting as I recall.
I have a link to the gun----can I post the link or is that forbidden?? |
As I understand the rules you can't link to the advertisement. You can link to pictures of the gun, say on your Photobucket page.
|
Maybe this link to pics will help KDGJ get more informed opinions on the gun's value:

Greg,
Thanks for posting the link. It looks like Craig has seen better pics of the gun and saw issues I didn't. Ken |
I am going from memory regarding the condition so please make your own assessment.
This is one of the pictures and the action appeared cleaned or lightly buffed to me but I am no expert. The gun just looked bright to me. This is just my opinion please realize I have never had the gun in hand. I do not feel qualified to render a guess on value. I was just trying to point out what I observed by looking at pictures. http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t...pse4c79e37.jpg |
Looks nice for the asking price.
|
If the barrels are pitted??
