Evil Griffon Schnorrnberg

I wanted to share a unique double with you.
I purchased this little 20ga ejector gun about 30 years ago. Although I dont hunt with it as much as I used to, it is still one of my favorite guns due to its lightness, barrel length and engraving. The engraving motif is not what is usually seen, and I have never seen another like it except in an old 1906? Trade catalog. It was listed as an FN gun and had the exact same engraving. This one is not marked FN any where on it, so I'm a bit puzzled about that. I especially like the evil eye on the bottom plate and the stylized bird on the trigger guard. Here are the specifics: Maker: J. Schnorrnberg & Fils (sons) Guage: 20 Barrel length: 28 3/8" (appears to be original) Barrel Steel: Special Gewehr-Lauf Stahl (also marked Fried.Krupp. AG Essen) Chokes: IC / light modified (not original) LOP: 14" Drop: 1 1/2, 2 5/8 Weight: 5 lbs 10ozs |

That is a great shotgun.

Now that is a cool gun. If I couldn't shoot Grouse with it I could scare them to death:rotf:

Amazing gun. I always liked mythical creatures on guns. Have to have W.W. Greener make me a dragon gun one of these days.

With more than fifty-four thousand guns made by them you would expect there would be others, but it is what it is - either extremely rare or maybe unique.
A very nice and interesting gun. |

:) don't we wish
Might be an interesting inventory to take at the reunion in March. My two OH dogs normally hear a Parker, although its occasionally a Fox or a modest English gun. George's Purdy is stil out there. And of course he shot Foxes for many years prior to inheriting the Purdy. Off the top of my head I can think of other Purdys, H&H, Boswell, Fox, Sauer, Lancaster, AYA & an Elsie amongst the guns in the field The is a picture in GBE's Upland Shooting Life that shows a collection of his hunting friend's smokepoles |
Dave, had to go back today and see that gun again, love it. Then I saw your album with the EE Lefever, very nice. I really like those Lefevers. I have a little DSE 20 and a G grade damascus 16.
