12th Annual Northeast SxS Classic

The 12th Annual Northeast SxS Classic will be held at Hausmann's Hidden Hollow on June 6-8 2014. The Parker Gun Collectors Association will have display tables at this great event.

Also the BIG news is that the Parker/Fox Challenge that has been previously held at the Vintage Cup has been moved to this event. This is a great shoot draws a large contingent of Fox and Parker shooters so we should have some great comraderie and competition.Rules for this event will be posted at Hidden Hollow.

Be sure to stop by the PGCA tables and sit for a spell.

Daryl Corona 01-28-2014 09:36 PM

Hot darn ! Now..... who to shoot for- Parker or Fox. Decisions, decisions. Great that it's moved to Hausmann's. Can't wait.

Dave Suponski 01-28-2014 09:40 PM

Got that right Daryl..Would be nice to take that trophy back in those Foxer's backyard........

Daryl Corona 01-28-2014 09:45 PM

What's the history so far in the Parker/Fox shoot-out? That will make my decision easier.

Dave Suponski 01-28-2014 09:54 PM

We are 0 for 2....:banghead:

Daryl Corona 01-28-2014 10:01 PM

Oh my, we must remedy that in June to at least 1 for 3. Bone up boys- those Fox guys are tough.

Dean Romig 01-28-2014 10:45 PM

Actually they're not so tough... they just shoot good.

Now, if we have a rumble out in the parking field and rough them up pretty good, I'll bet they don't shoot so good :corn:

Daryl Corona 01-28-2014 10:50 PM

Ok Dean, you bring the brass knuckles and I'll bring the linament.:nono:

Frank Srebro 01-29-2014 07:43 AM

Hey Dean, thanks for using that word Rumble. Haven't heard it in decades. Brought back some memories. Well here's one for you, it's always nice to shoot with you Cats .... for you younger readers who haven't heard that term, it's complimentary. Frank

Rick Losey 01-29-2014 08:41 AM

the way I shoot-- I could bring a Fox and help

John Dallas 01-29-2014 09:26 AM

"Rumble" - A 50's instrumental by Link Wray and the Wraymen.

scott kittredge 01-29-2014 05:43 PM

I will be there, can't wait, great shoot and people!! :) scott .oh, I will be shooting a Parker

Rich Anderson 01-29-2014 05:52 PM

Well at this moment in time I don't have a Fox so Parker it will be. Will there be a seperate event for hammerguns:rotf: we might win that one:biglaugh::biglaugh::biglaugh::biglaugh:

Bill Murphy 01-29-2014 08:12 PM

Check again. You do have a Fox.

Mike.Smith 01-30-2014 01:15 AM

The best news in this post are the dates of the shoot! I missed last year and was afraid I'd miss it for several years to come, as it's always fallen on my son's birthday. With these dates, I should be able to make it this year! it's gonna be Rad! (Rad, short for Radical, an early 80's reference for you :) )

Mike

Frank Srebro 01-30-2014 07:53 AM

Good to hear that Mike.

It's never too early to start practicing. Hint Hint to my friends planning to shoot a Parker. A few pics taken yesterday at Rock Mountain that's near Hidden Hollow here in PA, before my camera froze up. Second pic is my buddy Freddy with his Elmer Fudd hat - no end of joking to keep warm. That Fox that was shipped in 1909.

Daryl Corona 01-30-2014 08:00 AM

Cool, Daddy-yo! And I do mean cool at O degrees. Practice here won't start until we hit a balmy 25 degrees.

Dean Romig 01-30-2014 08:24 AM

Wicked Pissa! (Boston vernacular circa 1970's - current).

Frank, that looks like a very interesting Fox. Can you show us some better photo's on a new thread?

Rich Anderson 01-30-2014 09:15 AM

Bill your right I do have a Fox of sorts the FE 410 from CSM. I view it along the lines of the Parker reproductions in that it's not a true A.H. Fox gun but someday one will materialize:whistle:

Practice:eek: who needs practice:nono: when you stink you stink and no amount of practice is going to help:(

Frank Srebro 01-30-2014 11:54 AM

Sorry Dean, I have very few pics of that Fox which is a 12 gauge CE, my favorite sporting clays gun. Barrels have a ding in one muzzle and I just sent them off today to a friend to be laser microtigged. Kind of cosmetic but it bugs me. The other option was to trim the barrels to remove the ding which I didn't want to do. I'll post some pics after they come back and I finish off the weld. Here's the pic I sent to my friend who is doing this as a favor; his business is not gunsmithing and he isn't accepting "commissions".

Frank Srebro 02-10-2014 01:42 PM

Barrel was returned on Friday. Just to show what can be done with modern laser microtigging. That weld "bead" is about .006" above the surface. I'll finish it off with a fine file. Bluing on the adjacent barrel surface was not damaged in the slightest.

Any laser microtig source should be able to do work of this quality.

Link Wray was an institution here in Washington, DC. He played in local clubs for several years in my teenage period. Funny about that "club" business. They were "bars" in the Link Wray period, "clubs" in documentaries about the time.

Dean Romig 02-21-2014 01:20 PM

Poetic license?

By elevating the social status of a 'bar' to that of a 'club' elevates the status of the author from merely being another 'voice' to being a 'historian'.

Or one goes from being a drunk to becoming a patron:)

John Dallas 02-21-2014 05:55 PM

Here's the original version of "Rumble" Sorry if there is a bit of a commercial at the beginning.

Dave Suponski 02-21-2014 07:50 PM

Any way can we get this thread back on track about the shoot?

Brian Dudley 02-21-2014 10:49 PM

Sure thing Dave. I will see you all there. :bigbye:

It is a great time and the shooting is very challenging.

I do not know what will happen with me and this shoot in the upcoming years since it looks like we will be changing the dates that we hold the local Rochester Gun Shows. And they my conflict with Hausmans starting next year. And I can't exactly play hooky on a show that I help direct.

Harold Lee Pickens 02-21-2014 10:56 PM

I'm planning on going--had a great time last year.
Let's see, I've got 6 Foxes and 4 Parkers-what team do I shoot on?

Dean Romig 02-21-2014 11:15 PM

If you're good you shoot for Team Parker. Conversely, if you're not so good, Team Fox could probably use you

edgarspencer 02-22-2014 09:07 AM

Does anyone else plan on tent camping? I did last year and it was wonderful. No bugs to speak of, and a sky full of stars. If there are a few more interested in Camping, I'm sure Ernie could be convinced to have a porta-john parked down towards the far corner of the parking field.

Rich Anderson 02-22-2014 09:18 AM

Shooting at Hausmanns and Drakes Landing are two of my favorite venues. Despite the cold, wind and the snow it won't be long befor we are there, then it will be gone for another year.

Dean Romig 02-22-2014 09:20 AM

We haven't fully decided yet. We have a Lance slide-on and a 2010 Ford F-250 so we'll see. We've already booked with the hotel but that is easily cancelled if we decide to stay in the field.
