Parker Reproduction Value?
I'm BRAND NEW to this forum hoping to find an approximate value
on what I'm told is a RARE Parker Reproduction. It's a 20Ga THREE BARREL SET owned by my father, a well known outdoor writer and author of several books on hunting dogs. Here are the details: The gun was purchased new in 1988 and has never been fired. At that time it was supposed to be the ONLY 3 barrel set ever made? I've been told that still may be the case? It is in a "double" presentation case. 2 barrel sets are 26" and One is 28" 28" barrel is stamped Mod & Full and 23/4 & 3" Both 26" barrels are 23/4 only One is stamped IMP & MOD The other says Q1 & Q2 All 3 have same serial#: 20-04440 Purchased 6/24/88 from Paul Jaeger, Inc. Grand Junction Tennessee Made in Japan Have original sales receipt, Parker Repro booklet, etc. I have numerous pictures available, and would very much appreciate it if anyone could tell me a REALISTIC value. THANK YOU. Mike Duffey Wisconsin 7 one 5 - two 5 zero - 4 zero 9 zero No Calls after 8PM CT PLEASE. |
Hi Mike and welcome to the forum. If you could post pics of the gun it would help us in evaluating its approximate value. Value of one of these unfired Repros can vary with the grade, the configuration and quality/attractiveness of the wood.
Three barrel sets were a standard Parker Reproduction offering. Although not commonly found, yours certainly wasn't the only one ever produced. |

Mike
I think the last 3 BBL set I saw for sale in new condition was 16,000 Of course there is a difference between asking price and sold price Sometimes people put prices out there just fishing I beileve that set a somewhat rare set If it becomes for sale I wouldnt mind talking to you about it |
Mark, you are a bit confused about what Mike has. Mike, I would recommend you start over in the Parker Reproductions subforum to reach some collectors who are in touch with today's values. You have a very interesting combo. Yup, you need to post pictures.

Bill I very well could be I am still learning here But a 3 BBL set and the 1st one sold with this history and new .. I get it doesn’t have the 16 gauge BBL and its not the 28/28 and .410 But if it is this rare what would you put for a value? I see they are asking 7500.00 for 2 BBL sets on Gun Broker all the time But as you said I very well could be confused and way off base Wouldn’t be the 1st time…. I will watch and learn…. I do agree its belongs in the Repro section |
Mike;
The last name does ring a bell. What was your dad's name and what did he write? Was he Dave Duffey? |
David Michael Duffy
Daryl,
I believe Mike may be referring to the author of "Hunting Dog Know-How", "Expert Advice on Gun Dog Training" and "Hunting Hounds: The History, Training, and Selection of America's Trail, Tree, and Sight Hounds". Coincidentally, I just found the first two titles when going through some books in the basement last night.....! Small world! OOPS (sp) Duffey is the correct spelling....... |
Mike and all,
I moved this thread to the Parker Reproductions sub-forum where it will receive proper attention. Mark |
Thanks Joe. I just retrieved my copy of Hunting dog Know How.
Mike; Your Dad was quite a writer. Thanks for reminding me of him. |
THANK YOU!
Thank you ALL for your helpful posts and insights!
Sorry I haven't been back to the site for a couple days since I first posted. Have been tied up making funeral arrangements for my Dad. I'm "technologically challenged" but do have a bunch of pictures and more info I could post if I can figure out how to do it. Yes, my Dad was David Michael Duffey, very well-know author on the outdoors and Hunting Dogs. If interested you can find his obituary and more info. online at: http://www.newcomergreenbay.com/ OR https://www.facebook.com/davidmduffey THANKS AGAIN! Will see what I can find about posting pictures and hopefully have some up soon? |
Just posted pictures
I just posted pictures of our 20GA 3 barrel set in my album.
Assume those of you who are interested will know how and be able to access them? Thanks again for your help in trying to determine "value!" :-) md |
Mike,
I would like to extend to you and your family, my deepest sympathy. Prayers going out to you and all good friends of your father. God bless, Rob in MO |
Wow, Mike, what an obituary. We should all read it. Tell us to what extent you enjoy the outdoor life.
|
OK, here goes with the value. 20 gauge one barrel guns, less than $4000. 20 gauge two barrel sets, under $6000. The assumption should be that the third barrel set and the rarity factor would add another $2000 or more to the value. Dave Duffey's gun, the wonderful three barrel Emmebi case and cover, $7500 to $8500. Of course, this is just my opinion.

Ditto, seems about right to me.

Michael, my deepest condolences goes out to you and your family at your father's passing.
I had met your father a few times through a mutual acquaintance, Stub Brown of New London. Your dad personally inscribed his book Bird Hunting Tactics for me at one of those meetings. This book provided great inspiration as I was soaking in the ropes of the upland shooting life. I'm quite sure the writings of your dad, with his easy-going easy-to-read writing style, provided inspiration to legions of others as well. Another encounter I had with your father was at the Falling Wing Game Farm outside of Hortonville where he was asked to judge a local field trial, he chose my young English Springer Duke to win the trial, which of course I'll never forget. Warmest Personal Regards, Greg Baehman Wausau, WI |
Pictures & reply not posted??
IGNORE THIS POST IF IT'S STILL UP!
SORRY ABOUT THIS POST!! FOUND THE ANSWER TO MY QUESTION AFTER POSTING AND CAN'T FIGURE OUT HOW TO DELETE?? IF A MODERATOR CAN, PLEASE DELETE! THANKS! ALSO POSTED A "QUICK REPLY" to a question someone asked about - to what extent I enjoy the outdoors. Not sure how that works or if my reply not posted with the question will make any sense?? Thanks for putting up / having patience with a "newbie." |
I LIVE for the outdoors! Have been an avid bird and big game hunter all my life. Have done some professional dog training and guiding, and even a little writing years ago. I'm 63 and plan to ENJOY THE OUTDOORS as long as I can. It's been a little tough in Wisconsin this winter!... but my red face will attest to the fact I still get out and enjoy it.
Thanks. :-) md |
The pics are still up in the All Albumns section.
