The Beauty of Damascuss

I just got these two sets of barrels back from Dale Edmonds and couldn't be happier with how they turned out. Both are 16ga 0 frame, one set is for a GH and are 32 inches, the other set is for a grade 2 top lever hammergun and are 30 inches in length.
Like fingerprints no two are the same.

Very nice bottom ribs!

Dean Romig 01-16-2014 06:49 PM

I like the 'barber pole' effect of the top set. Dale does nice work. I've had a few sets done by Dale and have always been very happy with the result.

Erick Dorr 01-16-2014 06:54 PM

Beautiful!

Mills Morrison 01-16-2014 07:08 PM

Dale is first class for sure. He just did some for me and has another set right now.

edgarspencer 01-16-2014 07:16 PM

Rich, how long did it take, and did he coat them?

Rich Anderson 01-16-2014 07:32 PM

He had them less than 6mos. I don't know what your referring to regarding the coating.

Dean Romig 01-16-2014 07:48 PM

He coated mine.

edgarspencer 01-16-2014 07:49 PM

Some coat the barrels after refinishing, with something like Lin-Speed or boiled linseed oil. There is an English product some swear by.
Show us the Grade 2 TL.

Here are some pics of the rest of the gun. The wood isn't anything to talk about but it does have a ball grip and the receiver isn't as nice as the gun I sold to Edgar but it is what it is.

think i'll throw all my ugly old blue barrels in the garbage

Jeff Christie 01-17-2014 06:21 PM

P-

I'd suggest you sleep on throwing black (blue) barrels away.

If you're not really happy with the wood and the receiver I'd be happy to take it off your hands.:rotf:

Daryl while I appreciate the offer I'll hold onto it for a while after all an ugly gun brings humility to the safe:rotf:

Daryl Corona 01-18-2014 01:18 PM

Well then, my safe must be the most humble place east of the Mississippi.

Damascus refinishing

I met Dale at the Tulsa show a few years ago and saw some of his work. He is the best. I do Damascus refinishing and only thought I was good. The care and technique to get those colors proper, without darker areas around the breech, muzzle and next to the ribs shows that he is a Master.

charlie cleveland 01-19-2014 01:49 PM

glad to hear somebody else has mastered this art... charlie

Rich Anderson 01-19-2014 02:44 PM

A damascuss barrel in any of its incarnations be it twist or bernard have to be the best looking barrels ever produced. My CHE 20 barrels are the next in line for finish work.

Mills Morrison 01-19-2014 07:47 PM

Can't wait to see that project when it is done Rich.
