For Your Viewing Pleasure--Grade 6

My camera does not do justice to this little AHE 20 This gun belongs to an old friend of mine. He was given this gun by an old family friend of his who was afraid his son was going to steal the gun and sell it for drug money--true story!! It has 28" barrels. The chokes were opened up at one time according to my friend--originally F/F--ser# is 203158 if someone could look that up and check. It retains 75% or better of its case color and 100% bluing. Other than the chokes, it is believed that the gun is 100% original.

Identification and Serialization says Acme barrels, AH, Ejectors, Hammerless, Capped Pistol Grip, 20 gauge, 28" Barrels

Very pretty gun. You must have had a special relationship with that friend.

That is one nice A-Grade. Very unusual engraving motif and Parker Bros logo placement.
Is that your friend in the picture to the side?

Do you have a picture of the floor plate?

Brian Dudley 01-09-2014 09:23 AM

Yes, very unique engraving indeed. The great thing about these high grade guns is the amount of variation one sees. No two are alike.

I regret not meeting up with you and your friend while in the UP, I just had to much company to get away. Maybe this year. Its a nice gun for sure and should be used as intended in the Grouse coverts.

one nice gun for sure and well cared for...charlie

Very nice indeed:clap:

Yes, that is my friend , Bill, in the photo. Rich, that is the one we talked to out on Turner rd that day. A few more pictures.
Would love to see the research letter on this gun. Also I am going to post some pictures of his Parker lifter 10 in the hammer gun section--also a lovely WW Greener 12 ga sidelever.

Dean Romig 01-09-2014 10:27 AM

Very nice indeed and quite unusual in that the engraving is entirely scroll with no flowers at all.

I've seen a number of Grade-5 Parkers without game scenes but with "rose and scroll", or with flowers of various kinds.

greg conomos 01-09-2014 10:37 AM

...and here I am always looking for ways to steal drugs to pay for an A grade Parker!

Harold Lee Pickens 01-09-2014 10:49 AM

Anybody hazard a guess as to what this gun is worth? I told him he needs to get insurance on it. I would love to bring it to one of the SXS shoots for display.

edgarspencer 01-09-2014 11:03 AM

Harold, I recently saw an AHE 20, with 30" barrels, but not in nearly the condition as the one you have. It was at CSMC, and I believe it was $33K

Rich Anderson 01-09-2014 11:09 AM

Some of the value will be determined if the butt has been cut. We don't know if it has a pad (perhaps factory) or s ssbp. This info would help but I think Edgar is in the ballpark.

I'd like to see some pics if you have them of the Greener. Those side lever hammer guns are very nice.

Dean,
You've seen another AHE 20 sans flower and animals such as the one below.

Harold,
Your friend has a beautiful A grade there. The only thing I would do is fix the floor plate screws and avoid storing the gun with that slip on pad to avoid marking the stock in any way.

Dean Romig 01-09-2014 11:52 AM

Yes Larry, but alas, it has gone along its way of endless curatorship.

Larry, as a comparison, what was the serial number of the one in your pictures?

Made in 1929, approximately 6 years after the gun Harold has shown.

Dean Romig 01-09-2014 12:06 PM

Larry, I know the original owner is a matter of record, but being a 1929 gun were you able to get a letter on it? So many guns from 1929, 1930 can't be researched through PGCA because of missing book(s).

Harold Lee Pickens 01-09-2014 12:10 PM

Rich, the gun does have a skeleton butt plate. The Greener is now on the "other guns" section, and the hammer 10 parker in the hammer forum.

Daryl Corona 01-09-2014 04:55 PM

Harold, your friend has good taste in scatterguns. Very nice.

Steve Cambria 01-09-2014 07:15 PM

Geeeezze-Louise, Harold. That one is A REAL SCREAMER!!!! Can you imagine being in the pawn shop if that ever came waltzing through the front door. Selling an AHE-20 for drugs? I guess that lends a whole new meaning to:

BREAKING BAD!!!

Matt Valinsky 01-09-2014 11:55 PM

Someday I'd like to see a gun like that in person. Makes my beloved Trojan look kinda "plain jane".

Harold Lee Pickens 01-10-2014 07:12 AM

Matt, the gun is a joy to hold and examine, but your Trojan still beats the hell out of a lot of modern guns out there. Shoot it with pride--what guage is it? I have some nice guns but don't think I will ever have anything like that AHE.

Matt Valinsky 01-11-2014 08:16 AM

Harold, Trojans- 1 in 16 and 1 in 12. Hope all is well in Wheeling.
