Question on 28 gauge Parker barrels

The 28 gauge was first started in 1870's as a black power round
Did Parker ever make a 28 gauge in Damascus barrels

yes

My late father owned one. Him telling me about it is what sparked my interest in Parkers. I do not know the grade, only that it was a gift from his older brother who was a gun nut with some means, and at the right time, since he was born in 1879. Dad was a hunter not a collector and only told me the gun was a 28 ga., was "all engraved" and had Damascus barrels. Unfortunately, this gun was stolen before I was born. Dad did still have his father's CEO Remington which I now own.

Yes, Parker Bros. made a small number of Damascus barreled twenty-eight bore guns. I have one in DHE grade.

A quick talley from The Parker Story shows 57 with Damascus barrels, two with Twist barrels and 4 with Bernard barrels.

Mine is the only known 24" Damascus barreled 28 in any grade. I got kinda lucky the day I bought this one.

That sounds like an absolute dream gun Dean, have you ever had that gun out and shoot it ???

Dean Romig 12-24-2013 08:53 AM

Yes, a few years ago but I don't shoot it anymore out of respect for the gun.

Your disrespecting it by NOT shooting it. A nice day in the Grouse coverts would do it a world of good:rotf:

I've never taken it hunting and never will. I've only shot three rounds of skeet and two rounds of SC with it... that's it for me.

Given there are so few, is there any way we could find out what the one I referenced above was? It would likely have been shipped to Gilroy, CA or perhaps San Jose or San Francisco but that general area. Also, don't know if customer names were retained but my Uncle's name was Dr. John A. Clark. Stolen long ago but I am curious as to what it was. My late cousin had a .410 that also belonged to him that I'm sure his son now has.
