Ye Old Gun room

3 Attachment(s)
A few weeks back I was sitting in my Gun Room ,Man Cave which ever you prefer and decided ,it is a shame to have the guns I enjoy the most hiding away in a gun safe tucked neatly away in cases where even the owner " ME " can't ever enjoy just looking at them ! I mentioned this fact to my Wife and she suggested a small change in furniture placement and making a display area so I could enjoy looking at my guns while I was in my Room at my computer etc. ! Shopping we went and I came away with an inexpensive but I think very nice piece of furniture for the job ,it has space inside ,for TPS , Dbl. Gun journals ,Parker Pages and a few random Books and Brass Shells and Misc.Parker items and Gun Related stuff ,then on the top ,I can place a Cased Parker Gun on the top and enjoy having it out to ogle over it on occasion ,I intend to change guns once a week ,now the problem is I'll need a few more to fill in the blanks for the rest of the weeks of the year ! Just thinking if any of you other fellows have a similar set up ,might be fun to take a look at them !

Harold Lee Pickens 11-28-2013 07:08 PM

Very nice Russ. I see you must play the guitar. I do also. Maybe we will have to get together for a little jam/ parker BS session.

Russ Jackson 11-28-2013 07:49 PM

Harold ,I do a little Flat Pickin once in a while ,I played alot more when I was a kid than I do now ,months go by I don't touch it sorry to say !

charlie cleveland 11-28-2013 08:05 PM

mighty nice setup you got there..i really like your idea of enjoying the gun s and related stuff instead of keeping every thing locked away...thats what pretty guns are for eye appeal... charlie

wayne goerres 11-28-2013 09:20 PM

Nice cave you have there. I just started mine and allready it looks a little unsightly. Was thinking of building a couple of racks to display some of mine when there not locked up.

Thank You ,maybe that explains why She picked me !!!!!!!!!!!!!!:rotf::rotf:

My gun room is a mess:eek: what with a month plus of bird hunting there are shells, clothes, dog equipment everywhere. Now add in deer season and the number of boots on the floor has doubled and there are rifles leaning against open drawers (so they don't fall down) reloading equipment and assorted paraphenalia scattered everywhere. I looked for a pair of gloves for over a week, even contacted the people I hunted with to see if I left them in their truck....I found them in a pair of hunting boots I hadn't worn:shock:

Russ your gun room looks very nice...but it lacks that used look:rotf: Maybe I should post a couple of pics of mine to give you a goal:rotf::rotf::rotf:

Seriously my one New Years resolution is to clean and reorganize:whistle:

Russ Jackson 11-29-2013 11:31 AM

Rich ,Would love to see it in any condition ,mine was so bad last week ,I spent most of the day straightening up the mess and tossing and putting away ! My Lovely Wife says , Wow ,now isn't that much nicer ,I guess it is but I can't find anything ,just the gun on top of the new cabinet :rotf:!!!!!!!!!!!

My wife's closet is bigger, but I'll take what space I can get.

Harold Lee Pickens 11-30-2013 04:56 PM

charlie cleveland 11-30-2013 07:16 PM

i really like the gun holders and whats in them..and i like the shotgun shell boxes heck i like the whole setup...charlie

paul stafford jr 11-30-2013 10:28 PM

looks like rich and I have the same problem , I could use a third room

todd allen 11-30-2013 10:37 PM

Beautiful gun rooms, all!

Rich Anderson 12-01-2013 08:55 AM

My wife refers to the Gun Room as uncontrolled clutter, of course if there is anything that she wants to put elsewhere it goes in there. I refer to call it a working gun room.

charlie cleveland 12-01-2013 10:18 AM

i agree cob every body wants to share the gun room wife kids and evengrankids...maybe today i can get a picture of my junk room... charlie

Rick Losey 12-01-2013 10:35 AM

I think it was Patrick McManus that said he called the place he keeps his stuff his den - his wife called it the place he keeps his stuff

I always like seeing the storage ideas creative people come up with

and Rich, how come EVERY JD bottle is empty :glug:

Rich Anderson 12-01-2013 11:52 AM

There not all empty, I have one full one left from a very limited run of commerative bottles.

There are a lot of good times in those empty bottles:bowdown: Emptied one last night as we celebrated the end of rifle deer season...no asprin required:rotf:

Bill Murphy 12-01-2013 12:24 PM

I have a library, which doubles as a guest bedroom, a gun room, a loading room, and a bit of gun and book storage in the family room. The library usually has a few guns leaning up in corners for study and research. Linda wants a new house, soon.

todd allen 12-01-2013 01:01 PM

I don't have a dedicated "Gun Room", per se, but have a dedicated reloading room in the basement. I would post pictures, but then everyone would know how unorganized, and sloppy I can be. My wife tolerates this level of clutter in this one room only!
That said, the whole house is basically a "Gun Room".

I cracked up when, what did I see beside the railroad lantern, but a Doctor Pepper can.
Charlie, who's that sleeping in the cage?

charlie cleveland 12-01-2013 03:26 PM

thats the famous tropy i won shooting the 70 step champion ship..they awarded me the can with the most hits ever at 70 steps..there was 7 holes put in this can by a smithand wesson auto of my dads useing 3 inch remington nitro turkey loads no 5 shot... the critter living in the cage is the parker loving guinea pig named wilbur... in herited from a daughter whose allergic to the pig..so you see anything can wind up in your gun room... charlie

Russ Lindsay 12-01-2013 03:45 PM

Edgarspencer said "what did I see beside the railroad lantern, but a Doctor Pepper can."

and a couple more in the cabinet. As well as Prince Albert in the can, heh, heh, heh.

Bill Murphy 12-01-2013 04:15 PM

Charlie, I hope your mailing address is in the PGCA address book. We need to band together and send you more crap. You don't have nearly enough. Especially shell boxes. You are way short on them.

charlie cleveland 12-01-2013 04:54 PM

i think my mailing address is in there somewhere and youre rite i need a few more shell boxes to round out my collection..junk has been in my blood since i was born i reckon...guess i shoulda took a few more pictures of my old reloading room but it was just too messy...charlie

wayne goerres 12-01-2013 06:40 PM

Charlie. I hate to mention this but that TV is a little obsolete.

That's OK, Wayne. He only watches old re-runs on it.

Mills Morrison 12-01-2013 07:09 PM

Re runs are about the only thing worth watching these days

Bill Murphy 12-01-2013 07:29 PM

Russ, Linda is willing to live with me in the same house as long as there is a very large "stuff room", preferably separated from the main house. A very large car and motorcycle room, also separated from the main house, is also a requirement. She doesn't mind the guns so much, but she would prefer that she never see the cars and motorcycles at all. She sees a Harley Davidson as immediate death in my present physical condition. She sees cars and trucks with more than 400 cubic inches under the hood as slow, although not immediate, death. I am doomed.
