2nd half
1 Attachment(s)
Bill Janelle and I hit the NH salt water bay for the "2 nd half" of the NH waterfowl season, We were using our parkers in 10 ga, Bill's NH and my EH. We both shot our limits of Mallards and black duck, What a great start to a duck season.:)
|
Post some photos. Sounds like a lot of fun. NH and EH Parkers are great shooting guns and I love mine. Unless Murphy's Law intervenes, I hope to be out in the marsh Saturday and the swamps Sunday shooting ducks.

Mills beat me to it
can't give an update like that and not show guns and ducks :rotf: |

Very envious! But the temperature and weekend forecast keep dropping, so there is hope here.
|
mills i hope the weather is good and cold for ya ll where them ducks will fly south for you...carry that old ten for sure not all shots are up close sometimes you need one of them for long shots ...some one once said a 12 is better for ducks than a 16 but a 10 is better than a 12 ga...charlie

A sportsman's paradise Scott. That area is HOT with stripers about the time the apples lose their blossoms. Been there - done that, but I've never hunted the area. Just a few miles inland is where Burt Spiller, Gorham Cross aka "Grampa Grouse", and "Tap" Tapply and son Bill tramped the autumn woods for grouse and woodcock. You're fortunate to live that close to all that.

I hope to take my Grade 2 lifter 10 out this weekend. Stay tuned folks.

Here's another view of my lifter with a Wood Duck
|
i never get tired of looking at a woodt especially killed with a big ten... and destrey hope you kill a sack full... charlie

They are beautiful ducks for sure. Hard to believe they got close to extinction a century ago. Now people around here almost take them for granted. I almost decided to get this one mounted so my son could have the first duck from his first hunt. Then I thought it might be better to get a good recipe and let him eat it.
|
Mills did you break it and then have to tape it back together.
|
It had a repair that came loose. The stock there is busted into several pieces and was held together by epoxy. I had it up at Darlington Gun Works for 2 years and they determined it needed a new stock. Well, I got tired of it sitting up there and decided to get it back and shoot it a little. May get a second opinion, as the wood on the stock is beautiful, but I am pretty sure they were right.
|
It took them two years to figure that out? I'd start hunting for a new gunsmith.
DLH |
The people at Darlington Gun are really great smiths , Jim Kelley, but getting the work done takes some finesse. I have seen many a gun sit there for 3-4 years before they get to it. If there is a reason to get it done:duck season, a SC shoot etc they will get right on it though.
David |
I will attest to them being great gunsmiths and they did an English hammer gun with great results.
|
mill s tell us what darlington said about the old 8 ga you left with them... charlie
|
They said the old 8 was beyond repair. Not 2 weeks later, Charlie had it shooting again. It spent most of the two weeks travelling from SC to Mississippi too.
|
The old 8 was in bad shape too. Charlie pulled off a real feat in getting it back shooting
