8-ga. Parkers
They're big, they're heavy, they're expensive and ammo is hard to come by. What makes them so appealing?

The 8 gauge Parker is like a 4000 calorie hamburger, a 1200hp car, or more closer to home a 700 nitro express. Over the top and unnecessary. Pure American and I love it.
|
Because they don't make a 6 gauge

the 8 ga was the long range gun of yesteryear.sure the 4 bore was bigger but not people even then or now could shoot a 4 ga very well.. yep the 10 mag and the 12 mag equals the old 8 now but they just dont have that auora hanging over them like the old 8 does...plus as said parker did not make many 8 ga less than 400 so rarity equals big bucks most of the time.. ammo is ready and available to all if you reload and if you dont reload mister tom armbrust can take care of the loading... the old 8 is big its heavy my 2 old parker 8 s are invery well used state mite even be considered wall hangers but i love these old big bores...charlie

I could not put it any better than Charlie did.

8-gauges may be rare, but they sure seem to be readily available---one dealer currently has 5 listed. I am having a much more difficult time finding an original and decent shaped 12-ga. Grade 3 fishtail toplever hammergun than if I were trying to find an 8-ga. Parker.

That one dealer has very high prices which is why they have not sold.
|
Yea I like the g grade but it is way overpriced for the condition. Probable a consignment gun.
|
The dealer that has a few available is selling off the end of a collection he bought almost a decade ago. The collector he bought them from was a neighbor of mine who spent a lifetime accumulating them. Never assume that a dealer who is selling a few rare guns just got them by visiting the local pawn shop. If I can get a price on the recently discussed 8 gauge, there will be a few more Parker eights on the market. Mine are not quite that nice.
