Thanks to Major Waldron's
Don't think I'm too far off by saying thanks from everyone who participated today especially to Scott, Pete and Rick for setting up and "herding the wet cats with a thread" (direct verbatim quote quote from John Dunkle - for which I cannot be censured, banned or blocked?). It was a pleasure meeting everyone!! Great facility, great fun and even better people.
Pete - please donate any of my share of the pot to TARP in hopes of defraying some of our grandchildrens' debt.......oh, wait, nevermind, I don't think I deserved any winnings but, then again, neither did the TARP recipients so we're square. |
Jim, thank you  scott

Hi Jim and all...!
Just home and getting caught up - but, first - my thanks as well to Pete, Scott, Bob and all the folks who pulled this together! Simply a wonderful day... Also, a huge thank you to all that brought food, snacks, drinks, ammo, guns, hats, mittens, children, family, friends, AH Fox shotguns, Mossberg 500A shotguns, Beretta 686s, etc... I think I covered the waterfront on that..?? ;) I'll post more pics later, but attached is the group less Scott & Bob - who were elsewhere (another picture later)... And oh - I wasn't in the picture either as I take my best pictures from "behind the lens"... As well- you won't ever be banned for quoting me... You'll just receive a severe warning.. :D Seriously - my thanks to all, and Jim - it was a real pleasure to meet you and many other new Parker Collector/Enthusiasts.. It's what PGCA and events like these are all about..!! OK - attached picture - I think there were over twenty shooters... John (Hint: If you click on the attached image - it get's larger.. Click on it again - it opens another browser page - and can be larger still...) |

I'm kind of glad I left the camera at home today. This is what was roaming around the back yard today.

Thanks fellas. I think it went extremely well and I am sure the club officers will be very pleased with the results of this shoot as well. At one point I counted guns and we had at least 44 guns there. B,C,D,G,P,V and Trojans, a Lifter, some Hammer guns, a couple of skeet guns, a double trap, a couple of SBT's and an EH and NH 10ga, and another standout was a 1/2 frame GHE with 26" bbls.
I have not made it home yet (still looking for my keys), actually I am at my ladyfriend Lisa's and we dined on the leftover lasagna. thank you. 20 Shooters shot a 100 target program consisting of 25 Skeet, 25 Trap, 25 Modern Skeet and 25 Wobble Trap. High gun went to Scott Kittredge with 89, I came in as Runnerup with 86 and Bill Janelle took 3rd with a 75. (Seems there is a home field advantage?). Additional funds beyond the non-member round price went into a pot for the winner. (The MWSA treasurer will be sending Scott a 1099 shortly). Seems Dave and Bob came to agreement and Bob now has a beautiful, practically like new 1 frame 12ga hammer gun. Beautiful gun Bob! John Dunkle did not for some reason bring his AAHE Double Trap or his 410 VHE Skeet. We needed John's guns and without them I wondering if we really need John? (Just kidding John, really ). Thanks to all who came from as far away as NH, Maine, Mass and CT to join in. it was a lot of fun. (John did you give Scott his D grade damascus 20 back?) :rotf: Special thank you to Scott and Bob who changed a broken main spring on a skeet machine and kept the shoot going smoothly. I'll put some more pictures up tonight or tomorrow. |

It was a great shoot guys. My shoulder is a bit sore but I'm satisfied with my (poor) shooting after not shooting skeet or trap since September. I came in 5th after Dave Suponski's 4th. Mr. Dunkle shot his usual unbelievable score (I don't remember what it was but he was very entertaining). Pete, that's the real reason John is needed at the New Year's Day Shoot . . . . the entertainment factor.
In this picture he is asking for his seventh practice shot on station #1 High House. |
You guys crack yourselves' up.... ;)
Actually - I loaned my - errrr - Scott's gun to the fellow below.. He's eleven years old, and coached by Tim - he was knocking them out sky. His name is Sam - and frankly, he's what the future of shooting Sports is all about... When I handed that DAM 20 show gun to him - I said something like: "..If you drop this - you'd better run fast, because if I can catch you.... And oh - don't worry, I'm old and can't run very fast...." He took that Parker with a big grin.... This is Sam with that Parker.... http://reutterwerk.com/gallery2/main...serialNumber=1 More pictures coming.... JD |
John WOW you did a GREAT job on the pics  MORE MORE must see MORE!! . scott

I wonder if she saw the NY Yankee jacket Danny had on? You know this IS Red Sox country!

Great shots of what was obviously a great day John. All I did today was some report writing and firewood stacking.... Isn't there something illegal about having that much fun with shotguns?!? Why, I bet I the mighty "O" would be happy to encourage his stooges on the Hill to pass a law to that effect...!

Thanks for putting the event on, you Parker guys are alot more fun(and better shots) than the fox guys said you'd be:duck:.
Dean, your idea to use a hack saw to cut the barrel constriction out of my vh is brillant. I've got the gun in the vise right now. Speaking of barrel constriction. Sam kept asking me why the old guy with the little gun with all the squigily lines on barrels kept looking like his mom did when she found out about his daddys affair with the 20 year old babysitter, when I asked about adding thin wall screw ins to his 20ga.:rotf::rotf: My dads still looking for his missing gun :knowbetter: guess I'll let him know where it is in the am:rolleyes: maybe Thanks again for a great day |

Seriously - thanks for a wonderful time today! And more - my thanks for the ammo!! It's a sweet load you've come up with..! The Old Guy |
Tim, we're glad you joined us in this fun (funny?) shooting event. I think you're really going to have a lot of good shooting with your newly acquired 28" 16 ga. 0-frame VH. I've discovered why it feels so whippy for you - the barrels were originally 34" and are now 28" so missing the weight of that last 6" of the barrels would naturally balance the gun right where it does . . . right in front of the trigger guard
|
Ok so who owns the 20 ga D grade, Scott, John, let's see some pics of it.
Sounds like you guys had way too much fun :) |
Eric, it's really turning into a bit of a problem - Scott owns the gun and loaned it to Dunkle to take pheasant hunting but John likes it so much he wants to buy it but Scott won't sell it and John isn't taking no for an answer . . .
That's the rumor anyhow . . . only what I heard someone say - don't know who it was though - anybody know anything different? |
well, the last round of skeet i shot with it was so bad i told john he could keep it  ya, i couldn't hit a thing :crying: SCOTT PS: that is the last i want to see or hear of this gun :cuss:

Best to you, Eric! John |
I almost got a chance to take a picture of them having a tug of war over that little gun yesterday. I am glad it's finally settled.
|
OK - dragged it in from the Jeep and wiped it off with an old oily rag... It think it's a DH 20GA (at least my 20 thingies fit OK??).. The barrels are 26", but I was thinking it would be a better 24" gun?? Tried to cold blue over the squiggly lines over the barrel, but the cold blue comes off pretty easily???

And that's no rumor - that's a fact.... And BTW - I think he and I tied scores for skeet with that gun.... And that's a fact... And fact is - that little gun drops fezzants and grouses faster than you can say "lickity split" ;) :rotf: Best to ya' Dean!!! JD |

___________ :rotf: _______________________ :rotf: OMG - why do I feel like I'm in the movie "Ground Hog Day" - and I'm the lead character???????????????? :rotf: JD |
John,
You know it isn't safe to shoot those damascus guns. Just send it to Indiana and I'll use it for a fence post! Best Jeff |
Hey ya' Jeff!!
That's an option! Let me look at the wood again - as it appears a little "punky" with all those stripes through it - so I'm not sure it would make a great fence post?? As for the Damascus barrels - well - with all those black squiggley lines through them - - not sure how'd they'd hold up stuck in the ground?? Anyway - my thanks!! If you think you can use this thing as a fence post - it's probably the best use for it, as neither Scott or I can hit a clay target with it... However - fezzants are different.. I was thinking 3" MAG 20 steel shells should work for long range fezzants? But - I dun'no too much about fezzants... Have to go polish up my Mossberg 500.. Now there is a gun... HEY - BTW - When do want to let me drive your combine??? Be sure - I drive just as well as I shoot..... :) JD |
Well Eric it was worth a try!
|
My nephew, Sam, said I should give you 2oo dollars for that old gun(he liked the way it looked) I told him thats about 150 more than that old wall hanger was worth. I was kinda afraid the barrels were going to blow up in his hands. Can't belive you'd let a little kid shot a damascus gun in good conscious
|

Sam was safe as long he was shooting your blank reloads.. ;) HAH!!! JD |
Jeff thanks for the help, John is just being stubborn but I'll wear him down...:):)

You have your fun Dean - but remember - I always get even... ;)
BTW - how do you feel about being the PGCA Website "covergirl" for January..????  JD |

Now John, that just wouldn't be fair to all the guys who submitted Parker pictures for the calendar and website picture of the month.
(I knew if I appealed to his better sense of judgement and fair play . . . right guys? . . . guys? ) |
