The three P's of buying a Parker
5 Attachment(s)
In real estate there are three rules location, location, location well sometimes when buying a Parker what is needed is persistance, persistance, persistance. I first learned of this gun almost a year ago and have been after it ever since. I sell insurance for a living so I know a thing or two about being persistant but not pushy. The owner always said when he was ready to sell it would come my way I just would remind him from time to time:whistle:
Well the Big Brown Truck dropped this aff just a short time ago. A beautifull CHE damascuss 20 bore. Now I NEED to go to work! |

|
My,my...
|
WOW!!! Great----- Congratulations
|
you re one lucky fellow for sure..really nice i hope she shoots well.. charlie
|
Congrats on the acquisition! :)
|
Really nice gun.
But persistence? I think your 'in' on this gun was simply in knowing who had it, and in your good fortune that he did not feel the need to offer it for sale publicly. I've been very persistent for years in privately buying, from a lonely widow, a 28ga. BHE with a straight stock and beavertail forend. The problem I face, though, is I have no idea where one is! |
Must be nice to afford a gun like that - should have went into selling insurance.
|
Rich: In my dreams is the only way I would be able to hunt with this great 20 Ga. Parker. I do know of a nice 20 ga. that a gentleman has and I have been waiting to win the lottery to purchase from him. congratulations on a real beauty. Thomas

Rich
Fantastic C !!! Your charming personality and gentle way wins the day again!:rotf: David |
Rich, what can I say except "your the man"
|
What are the dimensions? What's the frame size? Wow that's nice.
|
Hey Rich,.....
oh, nevermind...... :envy: |
Its an 0 frame 26 inch damascuss choked IC/F. Excellent dimensions that are very shootable. That pad has seen better days but it's original to the gun BUT I have another Silvers pad that came off an AH 20 that I'm going to have installed on this which will put the LOP right at 14 inches. Unstruck barrel weight was 3.8lbs.
This will be in the Grouse woods very soon.:) |
That is the twin to Bruce Day's
|
Every once in a wile nice things come your way. Nice gun.
|
Very nice Rich. What a little sweetheart !! :)
Kurt |
That is an absolutely beautiful gun. Congratulations on your find.

I just checked the serial number and it's 100 years young this year. I hope it and the places I will use it survive another 100 years.
|
On second thought, I dont think I will show you any of my grouse covers in the UP. You are so lucky that all the grouse will probably get up right in front of you and fly straight away.
Looking forward to seeing that gun!! |

|
Not likely this year but not out of the question.... and I will take you up on that one if I come.
|
I always seem to get in on show and tell late for some reason but I have to comment , WOW Rich ,What a beautiful gun , I have been dreaming about finding one like Bruce's ever since I handled it a few years back at the vintager's ,Now ,I have another one I have to think about ! The C Grade ,20 Damascus barreled guns are really special guns ! Congrats Rich on a great find ! Russ
|
Russ,
i was thinking that you had a little CHE 20 also? How is the restoration of that DH 20 damascus coming along? I need to get the barrels of a couple damascus guns redone. Ive got a trip to the UP coming up and will probably see Rich's latest aquisition. |
The Damascus barreled C grade 20's are uncommon. TPS lists 14 such Parkers, and I knew of four; this makes five. There are probably several more still hidden away by people who are very quiet about it or who do not recognize what they have.
Damascus barreled C 16's are also uncommon. TPS lists 19 made; I have one that had its barrels factory replaced by a fluid steel set, so that is gone unless I find a set of fine Damascus barrels and can refit the gun. Bernard barreled small bores are equally uncommon; 19 16ga's ( two known, one destroyed) , 4 20ga's and 4 28ga's. No 20's or 28's are known and are grail guns to several collectors. |

I love show and tell, it's like kindergarden for grown ups :rotf: This CHE is my second damascuss barreled Parker 20 the other is a GHE. It has been a very good year for small bore Parkers and every one has been a damascuss barreled gun.
|
It has been a good year for small bores ,seems they have been popping up regularly ! I picked up a nice DH 20 Damascus this past spring and a GH 20 a few months ago !
