Went to my first southern this weekend. I really shouldnt go anywere around guns because something always comes home with me. this time it was a boss hammer gun. here is some pic's.

That is a beautiful gun and a jones under lever too.

Mills Morrison 09-15-2013 07:38 PM

Good to meet and talk with you Wayne. Damn, that one is nice!

charlie cleveland 09-15-2013 07:46 PM

wayne thats a mighty nice old gun you found there..i ve never got to see a boss in person ive read about them.. you certainly have found a nice one.. charlie

We made it all the way to the end and then got an offer we could not refuse for an early Parker hammer gun. I am quite happy with it.

wayne goerres 09-15-2013 08:01 PM

Yes it was nice meting you and your wife mills I wished I could take better pictures. Mine dont do justice to the gun. I cant seem to get the right lighting. I fired six rounds through the gun at clays and hit five. Got to like that.

Mills Morrison 09-15-2013 08:17 PM

I like your pictures. The wood and metal really show up well. If you want clearer pictures, I have found taking them outside in the daytime works well

ed good 09-15-2013 08:41 PM

wow!

wayne goerres 09-15-2013 08:47 PM

I have been meaning to get a tripode and some propper lighting. maby that will help. Where are the pic's of your hammer gun. Is it the same one that was on the table with the keyed forearm.

Mills Morrison 09-15-2013 08:51 PM

I will get some photos when the confusion from arriving home subsides. It was the one on the PGCA table though. It is the oldest Parker I own now

wayne goerres 09-15-2013 09:21 PM

Great. My lifter gun is the softest shooting shot gun I own, a reel joy to shoot.

Dennis V. Nix 09-15-2013 09:48 PM

Wayne, your phoths aren't that bad but could be better. If I may offer a suggestion or two; don't always use flash inside as it puts a glare on the shiny surfaces of the gun. A tripod is invaluable to hold the camera steady. A decent tripod can be found for a pretty reasonable price too. Use a plain back ground. It is hard to pick out the beautiful gun (it is beautiful too) over the print of the bed spread. Unless you are shooting the entire gun I suggest getting closer. Most of your shots are great but could use some tweaking here and there. I hope I have been of some help.

Dennis

Wayne congrats on a nice gun. I have an English 16 with the Jones under lever and love it. What guage is your new toy?

David Dwyer 09-16-2013 07:24 AM

Mills
That is a great Parker you took home. It went from one wonderful owner to another . Congratulations. It was great seeing you and Julia and thanks for all of y'alls help.
David

Mills Morrison 09-16-2013 07:32 AM

Thanks David. Wish we could have done more. You did a great job organizing the PGCA events

wayne goerres 09-16-2013 08:01 AM

The boss is a 12ga at 6lb 12 oz. The lenth of pull is 13 7/8 witch is a tad short for me but I still shoot it pretty well. Seems to fit well. The gun has new nitro proofs on it but I beleve I will shoot rst lights through her for the sake of the stock.

A fantastic Boss! If I were you, Wayne, I'd see if I could find its records from Boss. You may be very surprised at its original owner...

wayne goerres 09-16-2013 05:33 PM

The Boss has an oval in it. It looks to me like a crest engraved in it. I have already been on the Boss siteand they want seventy five pounds plus the VAT. Dose anybody know what the VAT is.

VAT is 'Valued Added Tax'. It varies somewhat, but is generally about 17 1/2%. You shouldn't have to pay it as you are not in the UK.

Thanks Edger.

John Campbell 09-17-2013 08:20 AM

For a man who shoots a Boss, what's a paltry £75? Who knows. It might have been Disreali's gun!

wayne goerres 09-17-2013 12:06 PM

Dam another tax.

Steve Cambria 09-21-2013 01:15 PM

Congrats, Wayne. I'd be sleeping next to that one too and could think of far worse bed partners....LOL!! What a dynamite stick of lumber! The birds should fold out of sheer respect. Good luck with her.
