Lil Skeeters

I am contemplating the purchase of a set of Little Skeeters for one of my 20 Ga. Parkers to reduce it down to a 28 Ga. since I seem to be all out of 28 Ga. Parkers at the time ! Do any of you fellows use these and what are the opinions on the forum of such an apperattus ?

thats funny russ i ve been looking at the little skeeters to except i ve been looking at the 10 ga to 12 ga..i all ready have a set of gagemates in 10 to 12 and they really work well. so iamagine from 20 to 28 should work equaly well.. charlie

Thanks for the info. Charlie ! I bought some a while back for a 16 Ga. O Framed V Grade but the Chamber was 2 1/2 and I didn't realize it until I tried to use them and of course they wouldn't work so I returned them ! Just wondering if they pattern well !

If I were you Russ I'd just load up some 3/4 oz. 20-ga. (28-ga. equiv.) loads until you find that 28-ga. Repro that you've been talking about.

perhaps you could consider rst 3/4 ounce loads as an alternative?

Thanks for the ideas Fellas but I bought a bunch of 28 Ga. Ammo when I had the D Grade 28 and I like the 28's so I figured until the right gun comes along ,I could use the ammo I bought and still carry a familiar gun ! As they say ,Beware of the Man who uses only one gun !:rotf:

Russ, are you coming to the Annual Meeting? It sure would be nice to visit with you again.

I have quite a few little skeeters and they are good for patterns if you stay close in guage. Don't think that you can shoot clays or skeet easily because they do not always remove from the adaptor easily. Some casings are easier then others to remove, some can be quite challenging. I do enjoy having them and shoot them occasionally. Dave

Dean , I surely would enjoy getting together and catching up but sad to say I won't be making the meeting ,but I will be there in Spirit ! I have time off towards the end of the year but for now I have to keep the old nose to the grindstone as they say ! It's lame but unless the Family wants to do a trip to the beach or some other Summer activity ,I generally keep my vacation time for the end of Oct. then I am off until around Jan. 2 or so ! I am fortunate ,I don't seem to get sick too often so I can usually save my sick time and personal days and I get six weeks vacation so I like to take it all in one big run when I can ! If I take a week else where it messes me up for the Holidays when I love to be home with my family !

A skeet shooter at the gun club uses 20/28 LS regularly in his O/U and likes them. He has 2 sets of LS units. One set in the chambers for the singles high and low house. Then removes them and inserts the other set for his doubles. On the side of his shell box holder he has a vertical dowel mounted to assist in removing the fired hulls from the LS when he moves off the shooting station. This to speed up the team through the 8 stations of Skeet. Most of the time the other shooters don't know what he's doing as they are concentrating on the shooter calling for the targets.

I have 3 sets - 12/20, 12/28 and 20/28. I agree with the previous post, I think staying close to the 28 with a set of 20/28 LS is a more reliable transition. A set of 12/16 or 16/20 is not available, to my knowledge.

Thank you all for the input ,Jim ,I will give you a call on Monday ! I will report back as I get to using them ! Russ

David Holes 09-15-2013 10:44 AM

I found out that I didn't like reloading 2 5/8 10 ga. so I cut a 10-12 adaptor down in length to fit chambers and that has been great.
