Checks in the mail...From estate out of florida....one Trojan 16ga 28" one 12 VHE-30" one Remington VHE-16 30" IC/F One VHE-16 32" that is very nice All DT-PG-SF Good dimensions, good screws, not refinished. I plan to Keep the Remington Parker and list the others her in the for sale section after they arrive. Anyone know how many rem -16ga. 30" guns made? Lastly...they are sending a 28ga. to Julia's auction house...It may be a DHE ? Congrats. If you are willing to share values, that would be helpful.

There seem to be alot of small bore 32"ers hitting the market lately.

Kenny Graft 09-15-2013 07:52 AM

The owner of the 28ga sent pictures and info. OO frame DHE PG-SST- SF correct skeleton plate! 30" IC/F Looks to be very nice high original condition. Its headed to Julia's on Thursday. The est. of sale from Julia's is 40-60k The family owners would except 37500.00 This is way over my area of collecting, Makes my stack of repro 28-s look a hole lot better...We will have to watch it when sold at Julia's...(-:

I am so sick of 32" smallbores, I may cut off my A1-S 20 gauge barrels and make a bird gun out of my little 16 gauge GHE that wears those barrels. In fact, why stop at 26"? I may...........

charlie cleveland 09-15-2013 07:37 PM

bill you know its hard work a sawing off them gun barrels..why not trade me them long barrels for a short ones i have some fine little stevens wearing 26 inch barrels and a 20 ga thats done had the hacksaw used on it...save you a lot of work and sweat... charlie

Bill 22 inches works good in these Georgia thickets. Post some pics of the finished works.

That seems like a pretty high figure for a DHE 28ga. In fact, it seems ridiculous.

Kenny Graft 09-16-2013 11:42 AM

Depends on who the buyer is...rarity and condition of the gun. Its out of my ball park! Study the auction reports, good ones do sell high.

I think it will hammer somewhere between what the family is willing to accept and Julia's low estimate.

... unless, of course there are two or more bidders who absolutely can't live another day without it

I bid on one a couple of years ago, here in Michigan it went for 28 K plus 18% buyers premium and for me 6% sales tax took it out of my reach so I would say 35 K would be fair. A lot of redo's and upgrades in that catalog

edgarspencer 09-16-2013 12:26 PM

I don't stay up late at night studying the auction results, but I have been watching the 28s lately. Can't say I recall any DHEs selling in the 40-60K range, Kenny. Perhaps you could point to an example. As Dean says, all it takes is a pair of obsessed bidders and you have a horse race.

I know of a really nice, 90% CC, all original DHE 28ga that sold privately for $55K in the last year. The really nice all original ones are hard to find.I saw a CHE 28ga , 90%+ CC, all original sell for $74K. This should be an interesting auction.
Rich-no the Vhe 20 ga was not a duck club gun. I bet the one in Julia does not make it's minimum.

I finished the deal on the four Parkers and have had long talks with the owner. He is a hunter and owns bird dogs and very nice guy. He has 1/3 interest in the estate. They all want to keep the DHE-28 but no one can justify its est. value and buy the others out....During our last talk he said they would take Parker repro,s in trade...Im thinking about his offer? I have package deal to offer them worth 26K minn. They will want some boot Im thinking? I do not want to pay above 28K for the DHE-28 and this is well below estimates. I have good pictures and the gun is very nice but does show use or little finish left on guard or receiver but has no damage I can see, nice barrels and wood. I personally do not like SST option and prefer DT on my SXS guns Its chokes IC/F and a fast choice of barrels is in order! 00 frame round knob skelitin, SST-SF 30" barrels. Frame has the lightning cuts. Love them repro's...what to do??? SXS ohio

Bill Davis 10-02-2013 09:16 AM

Keep the Repro's Kenny! Way more bang for the buck and they are in the configuration you like. The 30 inch barrels on the original gun will drive the price up at auction. It will bring at least 35k in my opinion, plus the premium! I know it's tempting but you like to use your guns and you might hesitate taking a costly gun like that after grouse.

Bill Murphy 10-19-2013 04:37 PM

Kenny, the sellers better hope that their 30" DHE 28 wasn't included in the October auction. A new collector with a few bucks to spend would have had a ball at Julia's. Cash is king in today's market.
