i like it,

those hammers must have been supplied by a job shop, I have seen them not only on another Scott but very similar if not identical on some other makers better grades

I'm in need of a hammer gun (preferably a 12) and I think I'll look for a similar WC Scott.

KCordell 09-10-2013 11:46 PM

that is a heck of a nice looking double. its funny, but I never really noticed how similar the hammers are on some of the British guns. Here is a Greener from the 1870s that has similar hammers. perhaps the lock manufacturers manufactured the hammers?

They do look a lot alike. Nice looking greener.

charlie cleveland 09-11-2013 01:11 PM

i agree that greener is nice...charlie

Mr. Cordell is perceptive. A great deal of the "basic bits" used by a host of British gunmakers were produced at W. & C. Scott. For much more on this same topic, please refer to my feature on W & C Scott in the Spring 2011 issue of Double Gun Journal.

KCordell 09-11-2013 01:55 PM

Drat, that is one of the issues I am missing out of my collection...have to see if I can find it somewhere...

wayne goerres 09-11-2013 03:38 PM

I read somewhere that W C Scott made a lot of the frames for the double rifle trade also.
