HELP!!!!

Where to start! My brother gave me a parker with damascus barrel and a Winchester repro barrel. He had gun at a engraver in Montana for several years. This engraver did not finish gun and now I have a completely disassembled gun and would like to have it reassembled to make sure its all there. Cant find any information on assembly of this gun. If its all there I would then have it engraved. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Stephen I would recomend you send the parts to someone like Brad Batchelder in Grand Rapids, Mi to have it assembled. Another might be Kirk Merrington or Doug Turnbull. I would not leave this in the hands of a gunsmith that doesn't know Parkers.

Stephen Ferraro 09-08-2013 10:39 AM

Do they also engrave? Thanks for the information>

Rich Anderson 09-08-2013 11:57 AM

I would think Turnbull would have someone in his shop that does engraveing. I know Batchelder would send it to an engraver and I can't speak for Kirk Merrington. Can you post some pics of what you have?

I will try to post pictures. The gun is broken down in a million pieces. I do have some pictures on cell phone.

C.O.B gave you some really good advice.

I'll add that the first thing you need to do is get this gun back together and fuctioning. Then you can worry about having it engraved.

Brad Bachelder can do the whole job for you. He runs a full service shop that specializes in Parker repairs & restorations. If he doesn't have an in-house engraver. He will have his go-to engravers that he sub's work to out of his shop.

Give him a call and discuss your situation with him. He's a great guy that runs a quality first rate operation.

I don't want to speak for Brad but one of the engravers he does use is the same artist that did the engraveing on Gunner's Gun.

I am with GH-16 on this one. First get the gun back together and functioning. Then if the gun is worth it you might have it engraved. Good luck with it. Oh and I agree with COB too. We would sure like to see some photos of the gun.

Guys I will be sending it to doug turnbull thanks for the help and I will post pictures asap.

Parkers have a lot of parts and it is easy for something to have gotten lost. As I am sure you have established, get it back together and then decide on engraving. At least have an inventory of parts taken and confirmed to be complete by someone who knows Parkers.

Mitchell Gun Smithing in CT is another recommendation. Mitch is Galazan's go to guy on all things Parker. I have visited some tony gun shops in New England lately and they all know Mitch.

Here is a picture of receiver and forearm. This was done in Montanna.

IF all the parts are there I can reccomend an excellent engraver to finish the job. He is fair in both delivery time and cost.

Who do you recommend?

Rich Anderson 09-15-2013 10:22 PM

Bob Strossin, he is in Wisconsin. He did a complete custom project for me and there were no hidden surprises in fact it exceeded my expectations. Do a thread search for Gunner's gun and you will see what I mean. You can PM me for his contact info if you wish.
