Screw-In Chokes

I have ben thinking of purchasing a parker that is in great shape but the barells have been cut according to the chokes, or lack thereof. Does anyone have any input as to the feasability of screw-in chokes? I like the gun but improved cylinder and cylinder chokes are not what i need. Price is really good, though. Thanks guys

Briley can do it if the walls are not too thin.

Andrew Thompson 12-22-2009 08:44 PM

Thanks, Dave. though they could just was wondering if anyone knew the minimum thickness. I'll call and ask.

Ask for Steve Powers at Briley. He will help you out in that department.
Happy Holidays,
John

There are tens of thousands of Parkers out there. Buy the one you "need". Parkers with cut barrels are very hard to resell. Having said that, Briley chokes are often very handy. I have a Purdey with one set of barrels tubed and a BSA Wildfowler with Brileys for use with Hevi-shot. Good Luck with your Parker.

When I worked in a gun store, I put a 25" #2 frame VH on consignment for $800 (it was a bit of a high end store). The boss asked me how much I would take for it if someone made an offer. I said if he looked like a nice guy, about $350, or $400 if he was a jerk. One morning I noticed the gun was gone. The boss handed me eight one hundred dollar bills. The gun had sold for full price. It really was a nice gun, sort of.

I'm not shocked some one walked into TCG and bought a cut off Parker. What I am surprised at is YOU ACTUALLY SOLD A GUN!

Dave Suponski 12-23-2009 05:14 PM

Don,I think Bill sells ONE about every 5 years.Thats about when I bought a gun from him..

Don Kaas 12-24-2009 08:45 AM

That's understandable, Dave. Bill almost BUYS a gun from me every 5 years...usually an 8 gauge. Merry Christmas

Bill Murphy 12-24-2009 12:21 PM

Well, I've missed a couple. I wish I could pay for the 36" DH eight.

Dean Romig 12-24-2009 01:22 PM

I wonder if you could pry Eric away from his . . .

Andrew Thompson 12-24-2009 02:13 PM

Don, this gun would be a fine shooter and for the price would most likely become my new impoundment duck gun. Need has nothing to do with it:rotf:

Eric Eis 12-24-2009 02:20 PM

Dean, the answer is nope..... Dave how long has it been since you bought a gun from Bill, maybe the five years is up and he will sell me that damascus GHE 16 ga..... Remember Bill it's Christmas......
Eric

Dave Suponski 12-24-2009 02:22 PM

Eric,I think you are right. You were next on the list.... Merry Xmas!

Briley thin walled chokes

Andrew, I have a Repro with aftermarket thin walled Briley chokes. I bought the gun to shoot. I suspect the resale comments are correct, but it sure is nice to have one gun that can do it all. Good luck. Steve Kleist, Ely, MN

When I said "need" I was referring to the gun one "needs" for the job at hand. I don't "need" 50 guns but I have them anyway...If I "need" a gun for decoyed ducks, I bring along one choked ic/mod. Cut barrelled guns are rarely bargains in the end. Good luck with your project...
