PHE 20 ga. number made by Parker Brothers
HI.WOULD ANYONE KNOW HOW MANY PHE 20 GA. WERE PRODUCED ,(I HAVE A PARKER LETTER) I KNOW THAT IN ALL GRADES THEY ONLY MANUFACTURED APPROX. 1400, MINE WAS MADE IN 1928 AND IT HAS PARKER BROTHERS STEEL BARRELS. THANKS, TOM T

Good Morning Thomas ,TPS says ,25" Barreled Guns in "" 20 Gauge ""with PS Barrels there was " 1 " ,{26" " 71 " } {,28" " 100 " } {,30" " 28 " } {,32" " 5" } 34" None , I hope this helps ! As an added bit of info. according to TPS ,The first PH of record was serial# ,192515 a 12 Ga. w/ 30" Barrels made in 1920 and the last was serial # 235972 , TPS goes on to explain there are earlier guns with Parker Steel Barrels but missing stock books make it impossible to know the exact lowest numbered gun ! Best ; Russ

I just happen to have 235972, 26" PHE. 20ga. Anyone have 192515?
Congrats on that Daryl ,What a Great Find ! Russ
Hi Russ, thanks so very much! How do I get a copy of the TPS book you are referring to? I just bought my first Parker PHE-20 ga. May of 13. I would say the original case blue is 75% . I currently am just getting use to this site. Thanks again, Tom

Hello Thomas , Congrats on finding a Great Gun for your first Parker ! The Double Gun Journal sells " The Parker Story " " TPS " as what they call " Blems " for a big discount ,and the folks that have bought them say you can not tell what makes them " Blems " they are that nice ! It is a Two Volume set and worth at least twice what it costs and is a very much needed series for the Parker collector ! One wrong purchase can cost you a bundle ,just ask anyone who has been fooling with these old Parker Guns for any length of time and with that said ,they are so interesting ,there is hardly a day goes by ,I don't look something up in mine and I have owned them for years ! Welcome aboard and enjoy that new gun ! Best ; Russ

Thomas, I assume you meant "1400 in all gauges", not "1400 in all grades". The P Grade steel barrel guns are the hardest to pin down for production numbers because there are no order books available for research and many of the stock books of the era are missing. The figures for P grade steels guns in The Parker Story are a wild guess at best. The totals are "extrapolated" as the authors describe them. We don't know what the total of actually identified guns is, but it isn't as high as the extrapolated total in the book. It may be way higher if the estimate was not on the mark. Too bad, all we know is that steel barrel P grades are a bit scarce, especially the 20, and of course, the 10.
Thanks, Bill yes your are right-total in all grades is 1400 units. See above threads from the Brush Buster regards Tom
Thomas, there are thousands more steel barrel 20 gauges in "all grades" than the 1400 you mention. Maybe you could be a bit more specific in your comment about "1400".
Bill, I said there are 1400+- PHE Grades in all gauges. The PHE 20gauge with PS 26" barrels have only 71 made as per TPS. Thank you I hope this clarifies what I was told via Russ and I am not trying to tell anyone anything I am just trying to learn!

Grades and gauges are different. Reread your posts. You have a great gun, worth a bunch of money.
Bill, thanks and have a great day, Tom
Good for you Thomas,
I just got a PHE 20 gauge with 30" Parker steel barrels myself....# 185302 . I think the missing books may have had more than a few PH's enjoy...I know I will. ddp |

Daryl is one hard working Parker collector. However, he is in a very "wet bed" of Parker guns. Some day, he will write an article about his "wet bed" of Parkers. I will assist him if he wishes.
If it's the gun I'm thinking of, I was with him the day he "acquired" it. Couldn't happen to a nicer guy
Thanks Edgar (I think). Bill, if you could explain what a "wet bed" of Parkers is maybe you could help me write an article.
I'm glad you asked the question Daryl, because I didn't want to. I will admit to having occasionally dreampt about a Parker, but the bed was dry when I got up.:)

What Bill means is when Daryl walks into a pawn shop Jupiter aligns with Mars, etc etc. The man is a walking good luck charm.

Daryl's gun club is the "wet bed". I have been involved with the same gun club for more than thirty years, but Daryl is closer to the bulletin board than I am. I have some very good friends at this club who have been very good to Daryl. I do not begrudge him his success.
Thanks for clearing that up Bill. I have gotten some nice "finds" from the club and made some lifelong friends along the way. Don't make yourself so scarce. Come join us on Thurs. night sometime.:)

The P Grade Steel barrel guns are among some of the rarest Parkers out there, Was fortunate to own from the 410 to the 8 ga in steel barrel guns the 8 ga had titanic steel barrels, the fun was in the hunt, the high point was when I acquired the 410 and 28ga that Forrest Marshall had and again when I was able to get the 8ga in AZ it was featured in the PPgs 3-4 years ago, a 30" Ph or PHE in 20g a is a rare gun in my book, Gary

i recently sold my 20 gauge PHE 28" Steel Barrel I loved that gun
