Parker Trojan 16ga

Hello
My name is Greg i have been reading your guys post for awhile on this great site. I have a 1924 Parker trojan 16ga 28 inche barrels choked cylinder and mod. I am having problems with the gun and would like to be able to hunt with this great classic gun. I am a avid rabbit and quail with dogs and live in kentucky. My question is should i post my problem with the gun in one of the other forums?

Dean Romig 12-20-2009 08:21 AM

Post it right here Greg. You'll get the best advice from these gents.

My shotgun got dry fired and now when i try to open the gun it won't open unless i take the forearm off then i an remove the barrels. I have noticed also before this happened my tiggers were getting real stiff like maybe they need to be repaired or replaced. Should i send this to a quailfied gunsmith

Dave Suponski 12-20-2009 09:20 AM

Greg,Sounds to me like your Trojan is a victim of dried oil, grease and other assorted crap. I would bring the gun to a "Trained double gunsmith" and have the guns internals cleaned.

Greg Webster 12-20-2009 09:23 AM

Any recommened gunsmiths the ones around here i do not trust

Harry Collins 12-20-2009 09:36 AM

Greg,

I'm in Lexington and would be happy to clean the Parker for you. I am going to charge you a bottel of Elmer T Lee.

Harry

Mr Collins that would be great. I am in northern kentucky Let me know how to get the gun to you. I knew this site would be helpful.
Thanks to all
I gotta go for now gettin ready for church don't want to make my wife mad

Dave Suponski 12-20-2009 10:02 AM

Good job Harry! Only one bottle?.....

Dean Romig 12-20-2009 10:31 AM

I'm in agreement with Dave on this. A Parker hammerless suffers no ill-effects from dry-firing because they have conical hammer/firing pins that seat, upon release, in conical ports.

Harry,
Can I have a pull off ur bottle.( I'd put a smily face here if I new how)...........ch

Harry Collins 12-20-2009 03:21 PM

Greg,

What's your schedule? I could meet you half way and do the work in the back of my trailblazer. You can see how to get inside a Parker and I will show you how to make a screw driver. It is a little frustrating taking apart a Parker without a vice, but have done it lots of times. My schedule is a little cramped with Christmas and work. Mike Frazen and I would meet at Elk Creek in Owen County, do some repairs then shoot a round. They have a vice.

Harry, I have been suspicious that you were a true southern gentelman, now you have confirmed it.

Mr. Collins thank you very much good luck on your trip hope you get your limit and have a very merry christmas to you and your family. I will try to touch base with you next week and we can meet any time the holidays do get a little crazy.

Hey, Harry, it's a vise, not a vice. A vice is the problem we have with writing checks for Parkers. I thought all Parker guys had a Parker vise bolted to the floor of their trucks. Do you have a Parker vise in your shop?

calvin humburg 12-23-2009 08:24 PM

what r u a spelling b champ?

Dean Romig 12-23-2009 09:29 PM

No, Murphy r a very hepful guy who noz a lot n shares it.

Dave Suponski 12-23-2009 09:42 PM

Yesserrii,He shore do dat

Harry Collins 12-23-2009 11:37 PM

Bill,

Let me get this straight. The vise was on the submarine and vice was off the submarine (most of the time). Darn Kentucky schools......

Merry Christmas, Harry
