16 gauge

This gun caught my eye a little. Wondering if anyone has seen it at WLM or maybe it was brought to the Southern. Comments?
Thanks

Does he have proof it was redone by DelGrego?

The trigger guard does not look redone.

Pat Dugan 04-28-2013 11:24 PM

I have owned several DelGrego guns and that looks different.

I sure like the stock wood.

Looks like a Turnbull restoration to me. Nice wood too.

allen newell 04-29-2013 09:22 AM

Those colors look more like DelGrego's to my eyes than Turnbull's.

greg conomos 04-29-2013 10:21 AM

The stock work looks way too glossy to my eyes to be DelGrego. It has a plastic-y look to it.

allen newell 04-29-2013 11:50 AM

Greg, I would tend to agree with you on the stock finish but It's also possible that who ever had this gun restored, may have wanted a higher gloss finish and Del Grego's would do that for any customer if that's what the customer wanted. When I took my 16 VH to DelGrego's and sat down with Babe (about 7 years ago), I was asked what type of finish did I want on the stock.

Dave Suponski 04-29-2013 03:07 PM

The colors don't look like Turnbull or DelGrego to me.

Angel Cruz 04-29-2013 06:46 PM

I agree with Dave. The colors don't look like it was done by Del Greco or Turnbull.

paul stafford jr 04-29-2013 08:05 PM

one side looks like turnbull the other side does not. from looking at my guns that have delgrego and turnbull colors they all look different than this vh. but this is a nice looking gun that I would be happy to hang on my wall I just have a problem with the gh price. that's my two cents worth.

August Luchow 04-29-2013 08:47 PM

I believe that the gun has been redone. The colors do not match pre or post Remington, 100% or worn colors. I have reference guns that I compare with. Color correction of images could be off. Sorry.

I did not see it on there table Sunday when I went through the tents.

Whose Case Colors?

Can you guess whose case colors are on this 16VH?

Dean Romig 04-30-2013 10:56 AM

Oscar Gaddy's?

allen newell 04-30-2013 10:58 AM

Nope, and I can see this is going to be a real test for our Parkerphiles.

Dave Suponski 04-30-2013 11:33 AM

Brads?

Robin Lewis 04-30-2013 11:55 AM

Dan Cullity?

allen newell 04-30-2013 12:08 PM

Nope, they are actually Turnbull's. When DelGrego's did the restoration work on my grandfather's 16', I had them ship the metal to Turnbull for case coloring and stipulated that I wanted Parker factory colors as near as possible..

If you have questions call Moores and talk to them. I have dealt with them and find them to be good guys. They will tell you what they know.
