The Barrels are back

I received my barrels which were the subject of two previous threads, "Barrel Inclusion" and "More testing on my barrels" yesterday from Dale Edmonds. The first pic shows the area where the TIG weld is. The last two pics are of the problem area and the TIG weld repair. I've also included a couple pics of the gun showing the beautiful job Chris Dawe did on the wood and checking. The fifth pic shows what I believe to be where a new riband was spliced onto the mandrel. The experts may know better. I'm taking her out to shooting clays in the morning with Harry Collins. I got it back just in time for the Southern!

Excellent, its great to know there are craftsman who can come to the aid of these treasures and keep them going for another 100 years.

I look at pictures of beautifully resurrected guns like this one and I think how many must have been lost because so few new or cared enough to make the effort to save these works of art. Beautiful gun, very well done.

That is one gorgeous gun! It gets me thinking about some old ($25) guns that I shook my head at.

That does it!!! I had offered a 10 gage lifter a while back for sale with no takers, that had a .020 bulge at the left muzzle. I talked to Kirk Merrington and after seeing this I think it's time to bite the bullet and restore it. Dale has done refinishing work for me before and is only 90 miles away. If you can relay and weld a set of these barrels successfully a little bulge is insignificant! Look out Romig, I smell another Parker Pages article! Lee.

Bring it on!!

The gun is en-route to Kirk Merrington as soon as UPS picks it up tomorrow. And away we go!! Lee.
